Risk
If the warning lamp IS ignored, one of the brake circuits on the vehicle may not operate as designed increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the master cylinder/brake booster assembly and if brake fluid leakage IS detected, the master cylinder will be replaced with a new one free of charge. the recall began on august 20, 2008. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

When I discovered the car was not stopping after depressing the peddle and the brake light was coming on. I checked the fluid level and fluid was needed. I topped the fluid level off and it did not solve the problem. I then took it to a mechanic and ask to have the brakes checked. he then replaced the front pads. Once they were replaced he bled the system according to the mfg. recommendations. I now have a solid peddle but still do not have brakes. The peddle moves less than an inch when applied. He checked on line @ NHTSA for a recall and discovered the Recall number PM813 for the Master Cylinder and the car's VIN number had an Unrepaired Recall. I would like to get this recall taking care to keep my family safe.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that when the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a routine oil change, the mechanic informed her that during the test drive, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond, and was depressed to the floorboard. The contact stated that the mechanic used the parking brake to prevent the vehicle from crashing inside the shop. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.

Lost brakes on the highway luckily was able to stop safely. As you can see in the pic the rear left brake line completely corroded in 1 spot and another spot was ready to completely fail, those spots are incidentally the spots where the line attaches to the body for support, those points don't have the corrosion protection that the entire line has.

I've taken the car several times to americas tires, bit o' tire where I purshased the tires and they checked all tires and tire sensors, valves and say the air preasure IS good. the light turns off but a day or two after the air preasure light blinks and stays on again. My car IS available for inspection upon request. Please advice. thank you

I was approaching my driveway in front of my house and my vehicle had smoke eminating from a glove compartment area when I got out of the car and checked underneath the hood the car was on fire I got out just in time there was something wrong there could have been the engine fuel system I just recently had an oil change 2 weeks ago the incident April 2, 2022 I was in fear for my life because I had no signal from the car what was happened I had just recently had an oil change a week and a half before the incident I noticed that flames were starting to rise and massive flames of ire than fumes of smoke and all of a sudden the car started burning and then the exploded destroying the entire car. Fire Department was called Lieutenant Thompson and his staff came out to put out the fire and the car was towed away was nothing left but the frame. I can be reached at [XXX] my name is [XXX]. Caught on fire under the hood and burned the car very badly. Fire department was called to extinguish the fire. The damage was total to the under the hood components and hoses and wiring harnesses. Car ignition was off while I was in the store for just a couple of minutes and when I came out the car was in flames. I could see the car from inside the store through the window and no one was around it at all.

Caused speed control sensor and throttle body sensor to go out which started minor electrical fire in the engine compartment which could have resulted in great bodily injury and possibly hurting others if accident would have and very much could resulted in for sure. I found while researching an issue on my nissan sentra 2007 that there was a recall on the master cylinder in 2008 because the same issue that just happened to me could happen. I never received a recall notification and apparently I was not on the list but my brake light came on and I had the maintenance shop check my brakes they said my pads were fine. That I was probably having an issue with the warning light. 2 weeks ago I got in my car and when I went to brake I had to push my foot all the way to the ground. I eventually made my way to my local firestone and had them check my brakes only tho find that the master cylinder and the boosters needed to be replaced. When they pulled them they said they were full of brake fluid. That IS why I had no brakes. This IS the exact issue listed in the recall. Why was I not sent this recall notice as I obviously had defective cylinders and I had to spend 1300.00 to repair.

My partner put the car in reverse to see if I could see what could be causing the problem. The motor shook when it was put in reverse. Immediately something near the fuel lines started to emit smoke. It looked like aluminum foil. The car had a half tank of gas and gauges seemed normal. I turned off the car and went inside the house to get my tools. When I came out, the car was engulfed in flames coming from the motor. 9-1-1 was called and firefighters put out the fire in about 30 minutes. The fire spread rapidly and the car was destroyed when the fire was finally extinguished. *tr

My vehicle was in a car accident 4-2-2015. Mercury insurance lisa openshaw failed to investigate the underbody of the car in the rear. Shocks were bent inwards in the rear and never repaired by mercury. I had the shocks repaired. Along with the estimates of repair lisa openshaw threatened me by stating that mercury paid for repairs twice duplicating labor on same matters. She tried to say the damages on the inside did not matter and damages on the outside was all that mattered. She also tried to violate the law to say I could not use my own repair facilities. The damages total enough to total the car and my vehicle was placed at risk compromising my safety while daily driving. I sent a complaint regarding the negligence of my car not being rightfully totaled. Attached are all documents for review. I have cc'd ricardo lara , the california insurance commissioner regarding this matter asking that he respond to me asap regarding the serious urgency of the matter since it has been literally 5 years. According to the recent letter by commissioner ricardo lara, all claims are to be paid to include car damages with no dishonesty and negligence. I am requesting that my car be totaled in full as at the time of the car accident , the value was $ 9500 plus tax and license for replacement value. Turning on town roads felt somewhat less,but I still had to be careful. Meineke put them on with 64,249 miles on the tires,on 2/19/16, but they put on new front pair at 70,203 miles on the tires on 10/8/19, because they said the tread worn down. My tire pressure light IS lit up on the dashboard. I was parked when I first noticed the light on. After noticing, I then proceeded to make sure all four tires had correct amount of air and to and to turn off car and back on to reset. After doing so the light has continued to remain on. also my passenger airbag has been flashing on and off while care IS in start mode. I am unsure the cause of it. My vehicle also cut off while stopped at a traffic light a few week ago. unsure if the problems were related.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000. *tr consumer stated this shows the insurance adjuster looked at the car and saw no visible damage that would cause the airbags to deploy. Nissan conducted safety recalls 08V-311 and 09V-431 to remedy leaking master cylinders on certain MY 2007 and 2008 Nissan Sentra vehicles.The recall populations were determined based on production changes to the master cylinder which were fully implemented into production on April 18, 2008.NHTSA utilized vehicle owner questionnaire (VOQ) reports and did not request field information from Nissan.ODI identified two MY 2008 Nissan Sentra VOQs including the petitioner?s vehicle, which were not covered by the recalls and reported a leaking master cylinder.Both of these incidents occurred 6 or more years into the service life of the vehicle.ODI also identified three VOQs which reported a leaking master cylinder after receiving the recall remedy.While one of these failures occurred within 36 months of the recall remedy, the other two occurred at a later time.ODI notes that the original recall addressed failures which occurred early in the life of the vehicle, typically during the first 36 months of service.Master cylinders are generally expected to experience wear and thus will display a finite service life.After a thorough review of the available data in NHTSA's VOQ database, the agency has not identified a trend that would call into question the scope or adequacy of Nissan's recalls.Accordingly, and in view of the need to allocate and prioritize NHTSA's limited resources to best accomplish the agency's safety mission, ODI is denying the petition.A detailed summary of ODI's analysis of this petition is available in the investigative file for this action, and will be published in the Federal Register also.The agency reserves the right to revise this assessment should future circumstances warrant.The VOQs cited above can be viewed at NHTSA.gov under the following reference numbers: 10299791 10330891 10449038 10567372 10638813 10805749 10839357

- 10192591SERVICE INFORMATION After ECM reprogramming, the Calibration Verification Number (CVN) needs to be automatically calculated prior to State emissions testing (also known as Inspection Maintainence, I/M, or SMOG testing depending upon location). Allowing the vehicle to idle for 22 minutes will allow for faster CVN calculation.
