Icon Vehicle Dynamics, LLC (Icon) is recalling all 05-UP FSD 2.5 Centerline Stabilizer Kits with part number 65050. The kits were sold as an accessory for certain 2005-2021 Ford F-250 4X4 and F-350 4X4 pickup trucks. The foam ring inside the stabilizer "through shaft" may block the piston ports, possibly causing the steering to lock up.

If the steering locks, it can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Icon will notify owners, and dealers will install a new shock assembly with a revised foam ring and steel support disc, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact Icon customer service at 1-951-689-4266.

My 2016 F350 super duty 4WD disesal has a death wobble with only 46,ooo miles. The dealership at seminole ford, seminole oklahoma 405-382-2222 told me I would have to pay 1200 to fix this. I was driving 70mph on the highway yesterday and my vehicle went out of control almost causing me to wreck. I immediately scheduled an appointment with the dealership. I will forward the bill when I receive it. This IS a safety hazard and a factory defect that I should not be responsible for, I had the vehicle at the dealership one month ago and had to pay for a new def heater at the tune almost $1,000. At that time they did their multi-point inspection which shows that the parts that failed were all fine. Please help me as ford IS trying to screw me over on a 70K truck with minimal miles. This should be a recall issue that ford should pay for not the consumer.

Despite the repairs, the vehicle failed to start-up after multiple attempts. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000. The vin was not available.

There IS a problem with the instrument cluster and the plugs. The dash goes dead, interior lights dont work. Power windows dont work radio shuts off. Vehicle runs improperly. The vehicle can be sitting or moving. I have done research and found ford trucks from as early as 2002-2008 have this issue. Its unsafeand a know issuewith these year ford truck f150-f450. A new dash IS very expensive and used ones run the risk of the same issue happening again. The fix IS simple, the cost IS not. Theres videos on you tube dozens of forums. Excursion expeditions are also having the same issue. Im n the mid west its cold. I drove to pick up a coiple atvs an hour north. Halfway back issues happened while window was down. Drove home preg fiance 5YR old in the back -3 outside-15 windchill n we're drive 65mph to get home. That was misserable.

Steering wheel shakes violently when a bump or discontinuity in the road IS encountered. you cannot hold the steering wheel during this event. cure IS to reduce vehicle speed below 15 mph. this IS hazardous if traveling at high speed or pulling a trailer. as you cannot hold the wheel during this event, the vehicle will change lanes and presents a fatal hazard as you attempt to reduce speed from 65 mph to below 15 mph without steering control. ford acknowledges the problem in letter 09l02 sent in 2009 and again in 2015. their solution to properly inflate the tires IS false as tire pressure has no effect on occurance or severity. I have replaced the tires and run up the pressure in 5 lb increments from 55 to 80 psi. no effect in the frequency or severity of the vibration. ## vin passed ## ford F350 super duty 2006 ##

This vehicles issues began with the galvanizing of the interior of the fuel tank flaking off and getting into the fuel system. it IS a diesel. it has been to the shop to have the fuel tank replaced, injectors replaced, high pressure fuel pump replaced to name a few. all after the fuel tank problem. since then the vehicle has shut down a number of times while on the highway. this IS extremely hazardous to lose all power. fortunately our drivers have been able to maneuver it off the highway before causing an accident. ford has denied having a problem with their fuel tanks; however, when we checked around we found it to be quite common. in fact we had a difficult time securing a new tank because there were so many replacements being done. I believe ford should step forward and admit there IS an issue and deal with it. we discussed this with a zone manager and got nowhere.

Purchased this vehicle less than a year ago and was originally very pleased. suddenly we are now experiencing the death wobble as other have described. the violent shaking of the front end. this usually occurs when you are approaching the speed of 60mph. we do not have to hit a bump for it to happen. the other complaint, IS that we bought this truck with very low mileage for the year, ran great, looked great, very pleased until this last month when the check engine light came on and it seems to sputter. put some high quality fuel injector cleaner in the truck, thinking it may be a injector sticking. nope, didn't fix the problem. light never went off. took it to a dealership, they tested it and came back with your fuel tank IS deteriorating putting little metal shards in your engine. you are looking at a potential full engine rebuild costing a minimum of $6000. this IS unacceptable for any vehicle manufacturer to not recall a vehicle that has a serious known problem. we are stuck with this truck that IS not worth the [xxx] paper the title IS written on. it IS tiring of reading all these similar complaints and no one IS defending the consumers. at what point, does the manufacturer need to be held responsible to own up to the faulty equipment and fix the problems? when my child IS killed because of the inability to control the vehicle due to the steering problems in the front end or that it stops running in the middle of the highway or downtown traffic because the fuel tank deteriorated for no reason and destroyed the engine. *tr information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr

2003-2006 ford F350 diesel with 6.0 have a chain of issues, but they refuse to fix it. The oil cooler fails, then the egr system fails, finally head gaskets fail. And to fix it, the cab has t come off and it costs thousands of dollars to fix. Ford fix your issue. *tr

Tires have 5,130 miles on them. dot serial # m431013 same for both tires. The truck has a truck camper mounted in the pick up bed. Tires were maintained at 75 psi on all 7 tires. Truck has a 12 pack rear leaf spring system instead of the oem 5 pack and 1 overload spring that ford called it's camper package. I have photos of the tires if needed. thank you *tr

This year along with other years have a problem with the egr valve and turbo. I understand that there was a deal where ford had to repair emergency vehicles with this same problem but not a normal everyday consumer. there are many complaints regarding this engine blowing head gaskets and egr valve issues which makes the truck suddenly have lose of power when driving along with other issues as smoking and engine lights going on. as you can read on line everyone that has had this problem IS really frustrated and ford will not stand behind this engine. the diesel truck should not have this problem at 79000 miles. this IS why we have purchased this vehicle. I would think a decision had been made to put this engine in trucks knowing that there was an issue would stand behind it. I guess not enough people have been killed yet or seriously hurt. just because ford will not be reimbursed for the repairs they will not stand behind this problem after the warranty runs out. which it has with us. I feel that something should be done. we have pulled a 15,000 lbs boat behind this truck and it could suddenly lost power and could have killed someone. has my husband was driving it on a busy highway it suddenly lost power and starting smoking. someone could have been seriously hurt but I guess because no one was and no one has been killed because of this problem no one will pay to repair. it IS sad that our tax dollars help dig this car makers out of debt but they won't stand behind their workmanship. why doesn't the safety board make ford repair this issue. many people are really frustrated and would like ford to repair. it IS not the consumers fault there was a bad engine. 2006 IS not the only year. this IS a large safety issue when you are driving and suddenly lose power on your vehicle at least I would think so. *tr

In august 2013 I was traveling with my son on nc I 40 e bound around 400 ML marker when 1 of the tires blew out. I didn't think much of it, 1ST blow out on that truck in 8 yrs. The 2 continental tire blew out december 12TH 2013 on I 40 e bound also near 411 mile marker. At that time I was thinking what are the odds but again things happen. The third tire blew out while traveling to greenville sc. That was in february 20, 2014. I didn't know what to think. That was the third tire that blew in that same set. I have the last 2. I went to turnkey tire service to inquire about the continental tires. It was at that time that he showed me how to read the dot number on the tire. We learned at that time that the tire were manufactured in april 2005 and was sold in 2013. I contact continental tire and offered them the opportunity to come examined the tires that I had left and they declined. They did want me to send them the remaining 2 tires that I had but I didn't think I should get rid of the only two tires that link me and these tires to continental tire. Can you please let me know what I can or should do at this point. When I went into colony tire, they had to order those tires. I was in oakland california I880 north number four lane pulling my car trailer with a load when the "death wobble" occurred, before I could grab the trailer brakes to slow the vehicle, the rig started a whip and the trailer struck the "k" rail. I slowed to about 10mph before the shimmy stopped. The fender on the right side of the trailer was destroyed and blew both tires on the tandem axle trailer. luckily no one else was involved and no one was hurt. this truck now IS on it's third set of the factory b.f. Goodrich rugged trail t/a radials on the front. I have had this vehicle aligned with each tire change and have experimented with tire pressures, it does not matter, after about ten thousand miles on a set of tires it shimmies again. I have resorted to the safety and reliability of my 30 year old chevy half ton and overloading it by up to 50% out of fear for this truck. because of shear numbers involved, nothing will ever be done by the nhtsa about this vehicle type's defects. *tr

Was driving my 2006 F350 sd lariat dually with only 7,858 miles, hauling a gooseneck trailer with a horse inside and steering started to shimmy once I got up to highway speed (55 mph) on I-85N enroute to a horse show. placed my foot on the brake and got no response. I could not stop the 15,000# of truck, trailer and horse but was able to get off the road and cruise into a large empty parking lot and slow down enough where I could safely apply the emergency brake without going through the windshield or injuring my horse. Tires were fine but there was a distinctive smell of burning pad against red hot metal and tremendous smoke was billowing out from behind the passenger side right front wheel where the rotor IS seated. brake caliper seized onto the rotor, warping it and destroying the brake pad. post police escort, had it towed to the dealership and $2,400 later (which included new batteries and 2 new front tires), all the offending items were replaced. I specifically asked that the rear calipers and brake mechanism be checked and they assured me they did and nothing was wrong. however, coming directly home from the dealership, my driver side rear wheel brake seized with the same exact problem. again, had to be towed to the dealership and another $1,600 later (this amount includes 4 more tires), replacing everything having to do with the rear brakes. in my research on this matter, I have discovered that this IS not an isolated but a common problem possibly due to faulty hcu (hydraulic control unit) equipment. could have easily been a tragic accident on a very busy interstate. this IS most definitely a safety issue. a fire also could have easily started as the brake fluid pumped back into the main engine area of the truck. though I have replaced both front and rear brakes there IS no assurance that this danger will not recur. *tr

I own a 2006 ford F-350 king ranch crew cab four wheel drive truck. I am the original owner. A few times through out the years there had been a shake after hitting a bump in the road at 60mph+. We received a letter noting a potential problem. We brought the truck to the dealer and they replaced brakes and 2 tires (other 2 had been replaced previously) and when we drove it home it started "the death wobble" (as the dealer calls it-and as I see many others on the internet). The truck started experiencing violent front-end shaking. During an episode of left-to-right shaking, the truck IS very difficult to control. With my hand placed on the 12:00 position on the steering wheel, the shaking violently turns the steering wheel to where my hand IS going back and forth between 10:00 and 2:00. Slowing down to 30mph has stopped each of the three episodes. This truck has dealer installed tires and does not have a lift kit on it. Air pressure in the tires equal manufacturers recommendation. They acted as if this IS an uncommon problem at first, and said they have never heard of a letter that went out. Then the next visit they say so commonly, that it IS the death wobble and will cost $1500. It appears that ford motor company has blamed tire pressure, giant aftermarket tires, and lift kits for this problem. My truck has none of these possible causes. *tr

This investigation was opened based on 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel oscillations after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven surface.odi was concerned about these complaints because many of them alleged loss of control and the loss of control occurredat speeds above 50 miles per hour.at the time these complaints were received, odi was also aware of the tsb 07-10-10 and early warning field reports that discussed the shimmy condition on the subject vehicles.since opening this investigation, odi has confirmed, based on consumer complaints, warranty data, testing conducted by vrtc, and odi inspection of complaint vehicles, that the owners of the subject vehicles are experiencing shimmy events on their vehicles.however, odi has also confirmed that owners typically do not maintain their tires at the pressures recommended by ford on the tire label.further, odi has found that in order for shimmy to occur, tire pressures must be substantially below (at least 20%) those specified on the vehicle tire label.odi considers these unsafe tire conditions to be the result of one of three typical situations.the tires are being improperly maintained, the owners are intentionally setting the tire pressures low to enhance ride quality, or aftermarket tires (not designed for use on the vehicle) are installed to change the appearance or function of the vehicle.the subject vehicles are intended and designed to be used as heavy duty vehicles and as such require that the tires be capable of handling the loads for which the vehicle IS designed and marketed.in order for the tires to be capable of handling these loads, the proper tire pressure must be maintained.in light of the information gathered in this investigation and ford's agreement to notify subject vehicle owners (now and every two years until the vehicles reach ten years from their production date) about the importance of maintaining proper tire pressures on their vehicles, further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.for additional information, see the attached closing report.

Odi has received 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel shimmy and oscillations commencing after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven road surface. The majority of these incidents occurred at speeds of 50 mph or greater.thirteen of the complaints received by odi allege loss of steering control and that the vehicle changed driving lanes uncontrollably.four of the complaints received by odi allege that the vehicle left the road surface as a result of the violent suspension and steering wheel oscillations.in one case the consumer alleges that after the vehicle left the road surface, it crashed into a wooded area.additionalfactors contributing to the opening of this ea were early warning field reports,submitted by ford, describing suspension shimmy / oscillationsand a ford tsb (07-10-10) describing the suspension shimmy issue and how to repair the problem.ford has described shimmy as self-excited oscillation of the steering wheels with accompanying wheel tramp.this pe has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea) to determine if the shimmy condition that occurs on the subject vehicles creates a condition where the vehicle becomes difficult to control or startles the driver, thus presenting a safety risk.

The programming may fail or vehicle symptoms such as inoperative door locks, dome lamps, door ajar indicators or auto lamps may occur after successful programing. To ensure the VSM is configured correctly, use the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) scan tool and select the blue ball and socket icon in the upper left corner. Select the utility knife in the bottom left corner. Select Update/Special Function and enter 53061 in the blue box then press the tick mark. The screen will go back to the system utilities page. Navigate to the toolbox tab and run the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) on the VSM. The procedure will prompt you to manually enter the as-built into the VSM. Obtain the as-built data from PTS > OASIS > As-Built.
