Remedy
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. Ford mailed interim letters informing owners that parts are not yet available on July 15, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. The contact owned a 2010 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while the son was driving uphill at approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle crashed into the rear passenger side of a boat trailer, causing the vehicle to roll over and slide approximately 20 ft. During the crash, the front of the vehicle was severely damaged, but no air bags deployed. Additionally, the contact stated that a 100-pound dog was occupying the front passenger's seat during the crash. The driver sustained a mild concussion and was examined by a nurse, who was a neighbor. A police report was filed at the scene, and the vehicle was towed to the local storage lot and deemed destroyed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (AIR BAGS), where the air bag warning light was illuminated after the recall remedy, and the dealer informed that it would un-illuminate after 50 miles. The failure mileage was 175,000.

Koons Ford in Annapolis says Ford told them they are not providing replacement airbags for Ford Rangers now or in the near future. Ford also told me directly "they have no idea" when Ford Ranger air bags will be replaced. This safety driving health hazard has gone on long enough. I shouldn't have to drive a car with a defective air bag year after year, after year, since ownership. On 9/11/2010 we were sold a ford ranger that had an outstanding takata air bag recall and also had a rusted through frame and body. we took pictures and returned the truck to the dealer on 9/14/2010. the dealer will not accept the truck back and will not recall the loan even though we were not made aware of the deficiencies or the outstanding recall.

Vehicle has 103000 miles on it. I noticed this when I herd a strange thumping noise when accelerating or braking quickly. When popping the hood I noticed that when pushed on the radiator would move. Thats when I noticed the rust and that the lower part of the support IS no longer connected.

I was forwarded to kendall ford in anchorage. on jan.2,2019 forwarded me to kendall ford in wassilla ak. on jan.4,2019 I was advised to provide my mechanic here in ketchikan the recall info, I did, and have him order the parts, I would have to pay for installation, then forward the invoice to kendall ford in wassilla for reimbursement. Feb.26,2019 called my mechanic, he stated he had got any response. feb.28, receved call from mechanics office, she had talked to kendall ford in wassilla, informed no procedure in place yet for remote locations, but expected something in place within a month or so. She asked me to call her on apr.1,2019 unless she called before that. 1APR. Called mechanics office, I was informed she had talked to kendall ford in anchorage on mar.29,2019. She stated that one air bag would be shipped for them to install as a trial, and that she hoped to have more info in 2-3 weeks. apr.5,2019 I called kendall ford in wassilla was told it should not be this hard and that the handling of the recall in remote sites had been transferred back to kendall ford in anchorage, ak. so I am no closer to getting my truck fixed than I was in dec> 2018. Ford IS failing at this.

""Takata recall" we have been receiving the recall notice in the mail from nhtsa now for over two years. we have been calling our local ford dealership to get the truck scheduled for the recall and they keep telling us they do not have the part in. we were finally able to schedule an appointment on 06/08/18 at the dealership but when we showed up they said they made a mistake because they had some parts but they were all out. they told us they would schedule us as soon as they got the part in and that we were put us on a priority list. we still have not heard back from them!! Ford told us not to drive the truck because of the recall which we have not in two years!!!!! It's frustrating to have a truck that you cannot drive because we cannot get ford to fix the airbag issue.

If the accessory keypad was factory installed, this card will be placed in the glove box and should be handed to the vehicles owner during initial delivery. Unlike the integrated (wired) factory keypad, the accessory keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Dealer Key Code access is granted through the Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES); dealership management can authorize users. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com > Parts and Service > Parts Product Line Information > Keys/Entry Devices > Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. - 10209374Certain 2005-2014 Mustang, 2005-2006 GT, 2004-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion & MKZ/Zephyr, 2006-2011 Milan, and 2007-2010 Edge & MKX Vehicles Driver & Passenger Airbag Module Quality Control Inspection: Ford Motor Company has determined that some vehicles claimed by dealers as repaired under Takata Airbag Safety Recalls 15S21, 17S42, 18S02, 19S01, and 21S12 may not have received the claimed repairs. The propellant in certain Takata airbag inflators can experience an alteration over time with exposure to certain climate conditions. A combination of time, high temperature fluctuations, and humidity contribute to the degradation of the propellant in the inflators. This degradation can cause the propellant to burn too quickly, creating high pressure inside the inflator, and in extreme cases causing the inflator to rupture in the event of a crash necessitating airbag deployment. A ruptured inflator can send inflator parts toward vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death. - 10160931On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

Once authorized the retrieval process for master code can be obtained. The master code for the Accessory Keyless Entry Keypad cannot be retrieved from the body control module(BCM) with a diagnostic tool.

The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
