Remedy
Dealers will inspect and install a support brace or repair the rear frame, as necessary, free of charge. Depending on the extent of any corrosion damage, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle. Remedy
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the inflator installation and, if necessary, replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly, free of charge. The recall began July 5, 2019. Remedy

I own a 2011 Honda CR-V that previously received the remedy for NHTSA Recall #23V-228 regarding rear frame and trailing arm corrosion. Although the support brace was installed, the vehicle’s structural integrity is actively failing due to ongoing rust. This safety recall affects over 560,000 vehicles, yet many are still bought and sold daily with severe frame rot. I was sold one of these unsafe vehicles, and the trailing arm is now on the verge of breaking away completely. I have contacted American Honda Motor Co., but they have refused to offer further assistance, claiming that performing the initial recall brace satisfies their legal obligation. I can provide pictures when requested.

We made it to our town when the wheel arm broke, causing the vehicle to stop unexpectedly. Had this happened while driving on the interstate like we were, we would not have survived it, and who knows how may others would have been killed or injured. 3) yes, when seeking repairs for the vehicle, we were told that no one would do repairs for the vehicle. It was then we found out about the recall for the other states. 4)No, manufacturer has been contacted. 5) No, there were none that we were aware of, except a crunch sound when making a sharp turn. It was heard the weekend we were out of town, but only a few times.

Now, frame has failed and even after filing a case with Honda care in April 2026, they continue to close the case, reopen it when we call back, call us with ring less voice mails so we are never able to talk to any case manager, and leave recorded voicemail for us to call back - and there is NO “Alexis” case manager. Dealership Dahl Honda in Rhinelander has been no help and upon initial inspection in April, would not say if safe to drive or not - only would say they forwarded pics and info to Honda Care.

The contact owns a 2011 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed, the vehicle rear-ended the vehicle ahead. The front driver's side air bag did not fully deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that during the crash, the right wrist went through the steering wheel opening. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. A Police report was filed. The contact was transferred to the local medical center by ambulance. The contact sustained a severe fracture to the right wrist. In addition, the contact was scheduled for surgery within the upcoming weeks. The vehicle was not accessed by the insurance company. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

Scheduled recall to be looked at, however my local dealership called me the day of appointment to tell me they do not have the part for that and would need to order it and then schedule my appointment. So the person ordered it and then I had to call back to see if the part came in yet. Upon looking at my car on a lift, they told me they would have to charge me to fix the car because the lug nut they stripped looking at my vehicle was stripped. I was not willing to pay them so the dealership sent me home. I called back to see how to fix it and they never offered me an answer. It’s been needing the recall for years since and no Honda dealership is able to fix it.

The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, the vehicle failed the State Inspection due to frame corrosion. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with severe frame corrosion, and the failure was beyond repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue approximately five times, but the contact had not yet received a call back after approximately two months. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.

I am very concerned, especially with children inside. It gets to a point that it sounds like a machine gun while you are driving, so, if you forget about it, suddenly you hear the loud noise and you think there is a drive by shooting nearby. There was a class action lawsuit regarding this a few years ago and a recall on this part. Today I locked my car after I parked and went into my house, suddenly I heard this horn noise on and off by itself without touching the key or the fob. I find this extremely dangerous. Let's say you get trapped inside your car and suddenly you cannot get out. I looked a little dipper and found out that Honda did not want to fix this issue. This is unacceptable and very unfair. Is there something someone can do to remediate it?

The glass exploded “up” instead of down into the cavity between the glass and roof visor. There was no projectile. I took plenty of photographs. The failure happened suddenly without any indication of glass failure. I feel that my safety was impacted because it thoroughly startled myself and my passenger. The road was full of cars and the explosions could easily have put me in an unsafe position. Furthermore the glass pieces exploded out onto the highway which could have startled the driver behind me. As of writing, the car is being inspected by a mechanic and a glass replacement company. I called Honda corporate and they said they were not aware of any such malfunctions.
