Safety record from NHTSA: recalls, owner complaints, investigations and service bulletins.
These records cover every 2026 Honda CR-V. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
When using either Android Auto or Apple CarPlay to connect to the car's infotainment system to view maps and navigation instructions, the system periodically goes dark for a variable length of time. While it will often restart on its own, on occasion the driver must interact with the system to relaunch the navigation screen. During the outage, the loss of navigation instructions is a safety hazard as it forces the driver to turn their attention away from the road. The car dealer has acknowledged this is a known issue and they are awaiting a fix from the manufacturer. When I first reported the issue in June 2026 soon after purchasing the car I was told they expected a solution from Honda by September 2026. It is now the end of October and the dealer has no further information on the repair timeframe. I can provide video evidence I recorded of the problem occurring. I am also available to demonstrate the issue. There are several hundred complaints about this problem posted by other Honda owners on the Internet, many accessible by searching Reddit.
The infotainment system keeps rebooting while driving. This causes AppleMaps to disappear and leave the monitor blank. This causes safety issues for drivers who depend on the system for directions and guidance. Siri also disconnects and is unable to communicate properly. The backup camera also has a 3-7 sec delay in displaying the surroundings.
I am reporting a potential windshield safety defect involving my 2026 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD, leased new on June 30, 2026. Within approximately four months, I experienced two separate windshield cracks, both developing near the edges of the glass. The original factory-installed windshield developed a crack near its edge and was replaced by Safelite through Progressive Insurance in September 2026. Approximately six weeks later, the aftermarket replacement windshield also developed a crack near its edge. I did not observe any rocks or other objects striking the windshield immediately before either incident. However, Safelite subsequently identified a small impact point on the replacement windshield and denied warranty coverage. The precise cause of the repeated cracking remains unknown. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership for evaluation. The service representative briefly examined the windshield visually but did not take the vehicle into the service bay or perform a detailed inspection. I was informed that the aftermarket windshield was not covered under Honda's warranty. The original windshield is no longer installed. The replacement windshield remains on the vehicle and is available for inspection. My safety concern is that repeated windshield cracking could compromise visibility and potentially affect the windshield's structural integrity. I have encountered reports from other Honda owners describing similar windshield issues, although I cannot confirm whether the causes are related. I am requesting that NHTSA document these incidents and evaluate whether there may be an underlying issue involving windshield stress, installation, or vehicle body structure. No manufacturing defect has been confirmed.
After receiving my recall notice from Honda a few months ago to replace the Flat Tire Repair kit, NHTSA ID Number: 26V663000. I have been constantly contacting area Honda dealerships about this recall. They continue to report that Honda has no repair parts available and no expected date for parts. As a disabled senior citizen, this leaves me venerable if I should have a flat tire and waiting alone in my vehicle for help. Has Honda issued any further updates on when they will correct this recall?
My NEW 2026 Honda CRV windshield wiper washers has a manufacturer defect. The passenger side wiper wash will not engage until the wiper is mid-Windshield leaving the passenger side windshield untouched by washer fluid . This leaves the right windshield with impaired vision causing and safety hazard. I took my car to Honda Clear Lake Dealership and they said it’s a manufactured defect and are unable to repair. This creates an unsafe condition with very low visibility. Thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was pulling in (slowly, forward, to the right) into a parking space when my 2026 CRV Sport Hybrid seemed to accelerate and jolt forward. I was not accelerating. My foot was on the brake pedal, coming to a slow stop. I had to slam on the break to avoid hitting another parked vehicle. This incident left me extremely frightened and very concerned about the safety of the vehicle. Prior to this, there were no warning lamps, messages, or anything to make me think that something might be wrong with my car. We will be taking it into the dealership for a full electronic diagnostic scan. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle until this is addressed and corrected. (Another issue we had with this vehicle, a few months back, was the infotainment system suddenly giving off a high-pitched, unbearably loud sound when I started the car. The volume could not be lowered, nothing seemed to make it stop, not even restarting the car. Ultimately, I was able to reboot the entire system, and that seemed to resolve it. I'm often anxious when I start the car, wondering if this is going to occur again, it was so jarring.)
My Honda 2026 AWD HYBIRD CRV was hit from behind while I stop at a RED light, after the impact , my CRV surging forward (unintended acceleration) after experiencing this impact. The car ran into an intersection which brake did not respond, I then use hand brake it did not stop , but until I rear ended a car in the front which was about 50 yards from me
the infotainment screen which has rear view camera systems, collision alerts when backing up, all hands free options- hands‑free phone use, navigation, audio streaming, and vehicle settings control for hybrid and general functioning are not accessible
I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding a serious potential design vulnerability involving the front radar sensor on my 2026 Honda CR\-V EX\. My vehicle is only four months old, and the front radar sensor and Honda emblem were recently stolen\. This resulted in numerous dashboard warnings and disabled important collision\-avoidance and driver\-assistance features\. It is unacceptable that such a critical safety component appears to be easily accessible and removable, leaving drivers without essential safety technology\. Other Honda owners have reported similar thefts, raising concerns that this may be a widespread issue rather than an isolated incident\. Replacement and calibration can cost approximately $1,700–$2,500\. Why should consumers be financially responsible for replacing an essential safety component that may be inadequately protected by the manufacturer? I am leasing a brand\-new vehicle and should not have to pay thousands of dollars or rely on aftermarket security devices to protect critical safety equipment\. Even after replacement, the vehicle remains vulnerable to another theft\. I strongly urge NHTSA to investigate whether this represents a safety\-related design defect and determine whether Honda should be required to implement protective measures or initiate a recall\. I also believe Honda should take financial responsibility by covering replacement costs, reimbursing affected owners, or providing manufacturer\-funded repairs and security modifications\. This is not simply a theft issue\. It is a serious vehicle safety concern that deserves immediate attention\. Honda must take responsibility for investigating and addressing this vulnerability rather than leaving consumers to bear the financial burden and safety consequences Please escalate as able and I am requesting a response back with case number as applicable. Thank you
the steering starts to get tight and sticky especially on the highways. I took the car to dealership I bought jt from yesterday (Oct 19, 2026). they kept the car for whole day and on my continuous follow ups, they returned it back in evening saying nothing is wrong and that bring the car back if engine light is on. the guy also said that car is designed to get steering tightened as it picks up the speed.
On XXX our 2026 Honda CRV Hybrid had a sudden unintended acceleration ending in a collision with a tree. The car was in a low speed and being parked in a parking lot. While slowing down or decelerating, the CRV surged forward. The collision repairs cost approximately 15,000. Due to the fact that it happened in a parking lot on private property, no police report was filed. State Farm, our insurance was notified and we were encouraged to call Caliber Collision. State Farm sent a tow truck and our CRV was taken to Caliber Collision the same day. At the time of the collision, no air bag was deployed. As the driver at the time, the incident happened very quickly, and I was thankful the vehicle hit a tree and not a person. I can honestly say my foot was NOT on the acceleration pedal. After arriving home, I began checking for other similar incidents and found a report of UNINTENDED/PHANTOM acceleration complaints while the cars were at low speeds while trying to park or decelerate. This report was attached to the Lemberg Law in [XXX]. I reached out to the law firm inquiring about data they have collected. Their response, "Yes, we are aware of the issue and investigating it further." In the meantime, other reports on the internet were also located AND another owner of a CRV 2026 Hybrid living in our area also experienced the same surge while parking, hitting a sign. Honda Customer Service was contacted. I spoke with [XXX] at American Honda. She assigned a case number and asked that I call her when the car was returned and fixed. [XXX] stated that American Honda would send a technician to checkout the car. I've try to call [XXX] three different times, and she has never returned the call. My State Farm agent has also tried to call [XXX] at American Honda and has never received a callback. Now, Honda appears to be avoiding the situation, although [XXX] stated, "We take safety very seriously." INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Center Screen goes blank while driving. The screen goes blank except for the time. Unable to turn the audio on or off, unable to use the screen, radio or any item attached to the use of the screen. There have been 3 occurrences of this happening
Vehicle: 2026 Honda CR-V FHEV VIN: [XXX] Manufacturer: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Description of Safety Concern I am reporting a recurring center display/navigation malfunction in my 2026 Honda CR-V FHEV. While driving, the center display sometimes goes completely blank. When the display returns, it may remain frozen and unusable. This prevents me from reliably accessing the navigation system while driving and creates a potentially hazardous distraction when navigation is needed. The problem has not been resolved by the dealership. The dealer replaced the display under Repair Order No. XXX, but the replacement did not correct the issue. I also experienced the same problem in a Honda CR-V Hybrid loaner vehicle with a different trim. My Honda customer relations case number is XXX. On XXX, Honda contacted me and stated that this is a known issue and that Honda is working on a solution. However, Honda did not provide a completion date and stated that it did not plan to offer compensation while it was working on the problem. I am concerned that this malfunction may affect other vehicles of the same or related models. I request that NHTSA record this complaint and evaluate whether the recurring display failure presents a safety-related defect requiring further investigation. I can provide the repair order, Honda correspondence, and additional details about the incidents upon request. It’s been just 4 months I bought honda crv hybrid 2026 and just 1800 miles , I have a sticky steering . 1 months ago I had same problem and nearly had accident in highway. I went to honda service they changed whole rack but after a months it’s started again. Whenever I don’t use brake hold button it’s works well but if I use and even after disengage of brake hold button steering so heavy and sticky and because of that today also I had near accident .
Spouse parked the car in the garage, turned off motor. It was left in reverse gear, but car was off. She exited vehicle, went out to driveway, and the car was slowly rolling out of the garage. She had to jump in, apply the brakes. Then started vehicle and placed in Park. Shut vehicle off. I was able to replicate the same event. Lucky that our grandkids were not in or behind the car. As I understand the process, an electrical and/or programming failed to place car in auto park.
Driving on I-69 with all adaptive systems on including cruise control set at 65 miles per hour. The car had slowed to about 60 due to ahead car. . It started raining rather hard, a message said the Honda emblem was dirty and it automatically disabled all adaptive systems leaving the car moving at about 60 miles per hour without warning. I fortunately manually braked to avoid a rear collision. This disabling procedure happens to fast to be safe in traffic or at higher speeds.
Car is exhibiting a sticking steering wheel at low or stopped speeds. Steering wheel feels notchy at highway speed when trying to make slight corrections.
My sunroof spontaneously exploded while driving. It was a mild temperature, not exposed to high temps or direct sunlight when it occurred.
The steering wheel becomes very stiff and difficult to turn when I am making turns or changing lanes at speeds above 40 mph. I have to use significant force to move the steering wheel, creating a serious safety risk—particularly when driving on the freeway. This issue has occurred multiple times and is becoming progressively worse.
The contact owns a 2026 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while the contact's wife was driving at 50 MPH, the collision mitigation braking system erroneously engaged. The failure was persistent. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The failure mileage was approximately 16,650.
The contact owns a 2026 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 33 MPH, the vehicle ahead unexpectedly decelerated, resulting in a rear-end collision. The contact stated that the Forward Collision Warning system failed to activate prior to the crash. During the collision, the driver-side, front passenger-side, and rear passenger-side airbags deployed in a delayed manner, and the driver-side airbag appeared to rupture during deployment. The front end of the vehicle sustained extensive damage, and the vehicle was towed by the insurance company to a private impound lot. The contact was transported via ambulance to a medical center, where she was treated for a fractured sternum, broken ribs, chest contusions, and trauma leading to respiratory distress, requiring diagnostic scans, X-rays, and an EKG evaluation. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
Severe safety incident and property damage caused by a manufacturer defect. NHTSA Recall 26V-366 (tire repair kit recall; Honda campaign D0V) — the exact failure described in the recall has already occurred on this vehicle, and the recall remains INCOMPLETE on this vehicle. The tire repair kit sealant bottle pressurized and exploded in the trunk. The explosion covered the cargo area and the back of the seats in chemical sealant. Unaware of the recall at the time and needing to prevent permanent damage to the interior of the brand-new vehicle (purchased approximately 3 months prior), the owner undertook the hazardous task of cleaning the chemical spill personally. During this process the pressurized sealant spilled onto the owner and ruined his clothing. No injuries and no medical treatment (chemical sealant contact only). Property damage: cargo area, rear seat backs, and clothing. Incident occurred in XXX; the exact day is UNKNOWN. The vehicle had approximately 3,600 miles at the time of the incident; the current odometer reading is 7,000 miles. Honda case #XXX (Recalls/Campaigns) was opened in July 2026 — no resolution to date. Request: complete the recall remedy and address the resulting property damage and clothing loss. 10/05/2026 I was pulling into a parking spot when the car accelerated suddenly like i floored it. I did brake, but not until i hit a chain fence. Fortunately i was not injured and only my car was involved. The car had been taken to a repair shop. I am worried that this could happen again. I have reported this to Honda. I see that others have reported this as well, but no recall has been listed.
I purchased a brand-new 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid. Less than three months later, the adaptive cruise control and collision-avoidance radar module was stolen in under a minute, forcing me to pay $2,650.98 out of pocket for repairs. In New York, the front radar module on the new Honda CR-V Hybrid is a frequent target for theft; owners often suffer losses of around $3,000 in just sixty seconds (exact costs vary by Honda service center). I consider this a clear design flaw by Honda: the collision-avoidance radar—which also integrates the adaptive cruise control function—can be easily removed using only a screwdriver, without even opening the hood or doors. This situation is completely unacceptable. Honda has failed to implement any anti-theft measures to prevent such incidents, leaving owners facing massive financial losses in the blink of an eye. This is unacceptable. Honda service personnel have acknowledged that the front radar on the new CR-V is extremely susceptible to theft. They have already repaired multiple 2026 Honda CR-Vs that had their front radars stolen. I strongly suspect that the Honda CR-V suffers from a serious design flaw. I strongly demand that Honda provide compensation to owners whose radars have been stolen.
Car slammed on breaks without need and no warning light came on before or after incident. I have a video but was unable to upload it.
