These records cover every 1995 GMC Yukon. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
7 recalls name the 1995 GMC Yukon. Newest first.
Certain replacement fuel filters, fram brand name p/n g3727, with date codes x52911 through x60801 sequentially or x600141 and a mexico country or origin marking on the fuel filter housing manufactured from october 18, 2005, through march 21, 2006, sold for use on the vehicles listed above and on certain school buses. (to see the school bus engine sizes…
This condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur.
Honeywell will notify owners and replace the fuel filters free of charge. the recall began on october 18, 2006. owners may contact fram customer service at 1-800-890-2075 (option 1).
On certain minivans, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles with certain model-engine combinations, the windshield wiper motor may fail due to cracked solder joints on the controller circuit board. the windshield wipers could work intermittently or not at all.
If this were to occur during bad weather, driver visibility would be reduced, which could result in a crash.
Dealers will replace the wiper motor circuit board and cover. owner notification began on june 19, 2003. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, GMC at 1-800-462-8782, or oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537.
Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, 2 and 4-wheel drive. solder joints near the wiring harness connector can crack causing the windshield wipers to work intermittently.
This condition can result in inoperative wipers, reducing a driver's visibility, and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Dealers will replace the wiper motor circuit board and cover.
These vehicles were assembled with the throttle cable contacting the dash mat which could bind the throttle. This does not meet with the maximum return times required by federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 124, "accelerator control systems."
Consequence of non-compliance: the engine speed may not return to idle increasing the potential for a vehicle accident.
Dealers will inspect for adequate throttle cable to dash mat clearance, and if there IS insufficient clearance, cut out a portion of the dash mat to provide proper clearance.
The transmission shift-cable lock clip can back out of its installed position resulting in a loss of cable adjustment. When the shift lever IS placed in the "park" position, the "park" indicator light may not illuminate.
The vehicle can move unintentionally if the driver does not notice that the indicator light IS not on and does not apply the parking brake.
Dealers will adjust the shift cable and install a lock clip.
The vehicles have both the supplemental inflatable restraint (sir) label and an engine start label installed on the same side of the sun visor. This does not comply with fmvss no.208, "occupant crash protection."
Consequence of non-compliance: operators could fail to notice and heed the warning label.
The engine start label will be removed from the stowed side of the sun visor and a new engine start label will be installed on the headliner in the sun visor depression. Owners will receive the new label and can install the label themselves or have a dealer install it.
Vehicles fail to conform to fmvss no. 210, "seat belt anchorages." the center rear seat lap belt was improperly routed.
Consequence of non-compliance: the occupant of this seat will not be properly restrained in the event of a vehicle crash.
Instructions for rerouting the center rear seat lap belt will be sent to the vehicle owners. If the owner prefers, they can take their vehicle to their dealer and have it rerouted free of charge by the dealer.
TL* the contact owns a 1995 GMC yukon. The contact stated while driving 35 mph the vehicle went "idle" and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the technician diagnosed possible electrical issues. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was unknown.
1995 yukon fuel and brake lines were diagnosed as having potential rust. *ts a year prior to this incident the brake lines near the master cylinder rusted to the point of failure. the fuel lines on top of the sending unit also rusted to the point of failure. *nm the brakes locked unexpectedly at low speeds without pressure on the brake pedal. It was determined that the right rear lower brake anchor was shearing off the backing plate, going to one side, consequently allowing the brake shoes to engage without brake pressure. Updated 03/09/06. *Jb *nm
Brakes lock unexpectedly at low speeds. often without brake pedal pressure, and always without warning. problem has existed for about six months. several mechanics (including GMC) have tried to identify the problem. each had an expensive solution, none of which has worked. this IS a very dangerous condition which IS destined to cause an accident. there are other complaints of this type (same make model and year) on your website. *Jb
Fuel lines rusted to the point of failure. the vehicle wouldn't start and had to be towed. the sending unit and first section of fuel lines are one piece, so the sending unit also had to be replaced. I do not drive this vehicle on the beach, nor has it been in a flood. fuel lines and sender replaced a high cost. *jb
Brake lines near the master cylinder rusted to the point of complete brake failure. luckily, I was in a parking lot when it happened and was able to recover using the emergency brake. I do not drive this vehicle on the beach, nor has it ever been in a flood. brake lines replaced at high cost. *Jb
Dt: the anti-lock brakes pulsated at low speeds. The consumer could feel it in the pedal and could slightly hear it kick in. It did this on dry roads nhtsa recall 05v279000 was issued in august 2005. But this vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin. went to the dealer and basically said the recall would not go into affect until november 2005. Started noticing this around july 15, 2005, and it did this occasionally.*ak *jb
Nhtsa campaign 03v159000; GMC issued a windshield wiper motor recall. This vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin although it experienced the same problem as those that were mentioned in the recall. *ak
Failure of driver seat mounting on the window side. *mr the consumer found that the mounting holes, one on each corner of the seat, were retrofitted on the window-side (front & rear) by spot welding a threaded washer about three inches to the right of the corner holes to facilitate mounting of the seat to the rail on the floorboard. this particular design caused metal fatigue surrounding the spot-welded washers, resulting in the seat breaking loose. *sc *jb
Consumer adjusted the power mirror, and the switch caught on fire inside the door on driver's side. *ak
The exterior paint IS peeling off on various areas of my yukon. this started when the truck was barely five years old and gets worse and worse. I then started to notice the many gmc's on the road that are doing the same thing. Not a very appealing representation of these vehicles when chunks of paint are missing. has there been any resolution to the obviously defective paint job?
Adjusted power mirrors and the electrical wiring shorted out and caused a fire which destroyed the door, the dash, and part of the seat. if my wife hadn't gotten out of the car, she would have been burned, if not killed*ak
Experiencing a rather high pitched rubbing noise in the passenger compartment when turning the steering wheel. Particularly bad when backing up.*ak
Headlight failure at night while driving my 1995 GMC yukon, two times in the last two months. Have tried to get information from GMC on how to have my local GMC dealership fix the problem. GMC response was to take it to the dealer and they will figure it out. How long could that take at my expense? According to what I have seen on the internet the 1995-96 yukon's were subject to this problem. Therefore GMC should be able to tell their dealer how to fix the problem. I would appreciate your help. Thank you.*jb
While driving and without warning front driver's side door caught on fire, causing consumer to pull over. Dealer notified. Ph....*ak
Seat track on driver side left front weld tearing seats rocks back and forth. *ak
Just had diesel fuel injection pump number 4 installed on my truck. last one ran just over 25,000 miles. this pump fails without warning and under the right circumstances it can lead to a serious accident. gm issued an extended warrenty for these pumps. ive experienced failure with their latest pump and it was replaced under warranty.. the engine will fail without any warning whatsoever and any speed, including highway speeds in heavy traffic. if this doesnt warrant a safety investigation I dont know what does.just had diesel fuel injection pump number 4 installed on my truck. last one ran just over 25,000 miles. this pump fails without warning and under the right circumstances it can lead to a serious accident. gm issued an extended warrenty for these pumps. ive experienced failure with their latest pump and it was replaced under warranty.. the engine will fail without any warning whatsoever and any speed, including highway speeds in heavy traffic. if this doesnt warrant a safety investigation I dont know what does.*ak
At startup or during travel, the gear shift indicator light will either not illuminate or go out. as a result the driver has difficulty distinguishing which gear the car IS in.during the evening hours it IS almost impossible to see the gear shift indicator at all. this problem IS an intermittent. all so I have noticed that the tach and speedometer gauges do not work either when the gear shift indicator light IS not working.
Driver's seat broke where seat was bolted to pedestal. *ak consumer states when getting into vehicle seat broke, sheet metal frame that foam and springs are attached to, next to the mounting bolt that holds seat to pedestal on the left front of seat. *jb
Brakes have been changed 3 times in last 2 years. when trying to put on brakes brake pedal goes to floor.*ak
Seat frame IS broke and IS about to result in total falure to the mounting . Results in a popping noise at this time. *ak
Engine exhibited symptoms of starting hard when hot or stalling with no warning. the ses light would come on and the codes 17, 18, 35 & 36 were stored. dealer was contacted regarding this and truck was at dealer for 3 appointments but did not resolve problem. these codes almost always indicate a failing fuel injection pump and calls to customer relations line asking why nothing was being done to change the fuel injection pump didn't get anywhere. a case number was assigned. All visits to the dealer were during the warranty period. a trip following the last visit to the dealership nearly resulted in a rear end collision on and interstate as the truck stalled in heavy traffic. I purchased a new gm fuel injection pump and installed it myself and resolved the problem completely. gm has since reinstated the warranty for this problem on several trucks including mine. I am submitting a request for a refund for my losses.*ak

Tire "slipped belt" would not ballance properly / "no accident occured. " (tiresize: lt24575r16)( dot number: tire size: lt24575r16 )
Driver's seat left front mount. Poor weldment overheated base material leading to tearing of seat frame around mounting nut. Conacted dealer and was informed it was not covered by warranty.
These seals have failed - leaked and been replaced 5 times since 1995. this IS costly and seems to be a problem that repeats itself. *ak
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
As a result of this, and the precedinginvestigation, rq99-003, gm has expanded the population of safety recall 98v-150 (replacement of the windshield wiper control module) to include an additional 1.77 million vehicles.included are various 1994-1997 my M/L vans, s/t trucks and suvs, & c/k trucks and suvs.see attached technical report for details.

Odi has received one (1) complaint alleging that the 2ND row passenger-side seat belt release buckle anchor detached from seat frame during a side impact crash.during the crash, the occupant was thrown from his seat, partially ejected through the rear quarter window of the vehicle.occupant sustained injury.gm has subsequently changed seat belt anchoring design in my 2000. Odi has completed a preliminary investigation and has determined that further information IS needed to determine whether a safety defect exists.

Based on the reports received by odi from consumers, failure of the headlight electrical circuit may occur in the subject vehicles, and may result from repeated adjustment ofthe tilt steering wheel in the subject vehicles.repeated adjustment of the steering wheel position may strain the wiring in the headlight circuit to the point of failure where they are attached to the multi-function switch, resulting in the unanticipated loss of headlights while the vehicle IS in motion.odi has concerns regarding the high rate of warranty repairs for problems potentially associated with the alleged defect in the subject vehicles, with the recognition the each incident of headlight failure represents a condition of vehicle disablement.in addition, the manufacturer's evaluation of the alleged defect has not been received, and this office has interest in the details of the methodologies and results of that assessment.
Odi has received 21 complaints where owners allege that the standard gm factory supplied ac delco battery case failed, resulting in the leakage of sulfuric acid.of the 21 complaint vehicles, six suburban, three tahoes, and one yukon owner(s) complained about a loss of brake fluid from deterioration of the right frontbrake line as a result of sulfuric acid contamination.the remaining 11 complaints pertain primarily to sulfuric acid leakage from the battery case.at least one complainant stated that the replacement battery also failed.several of the complainants note that the leaking acid had come in contact with a wire harness at the frame in the vicinity of the steel brake line.a field inspection by odi indicates that the described harness IS the ABS connection to the right front wheel speed sensor.prior to the battery case failure, there IS usually no warning (short of an underhood inspection), and the ensuring damage (sulfuric acid contamination) IS progressive.of the known battery failures, there may be a temperature correlation, as 60% of the owner complaints came from four states; california, florida, georgia and texas.there IS also a product improvement program and engineering change notice to add 1% silver to the battery's positive side terminall, with the earliest implementation date for this being feb 2, 1998.the effect of this design change IS as yet unknown; further review IS warranted.an ea IS being opened to gather further appropriate information, clarify any defect trends, and to assess the safety implications and risks concerning these failures.
