This condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur.
Honeywell will notify owners and replace the fuel filters free of charge. the recall began on october 18, 2006. owners may contact fram customer service at 1-800-890-2075 (option 1).
Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. these vehicles do not comply with the occupant protection requirements of fmvss no. 208, "occupant crash protection."
In the event of a vehicle crash, the right front passenger restraint systems may not meet the neck extension requirements.
Dealers will install a tray insert on the top of the passenger side of the instrument panel. the tray insert corrects the noncompliance.
Vehicle has only 21,650 m on it, used mostly on weekends and in the snow in winter. It was doing fine until 9/18/16 when suddenly I noticed my brake was not responding as usual. I had to push the pedal to the floor repeatedly to stop, barely missed hitting the car in front of me. I was on one of my city streets getting back home after grocery shopping. Drove home slowly and very carefully. had it towed to a nearby gm dealer. he says most of the brake lines and some hoses have rusted, need to be replaced. That would be 15-16 hours labor and will cost me $ 2000.00. it snows here quite a bit and after the season, I always wash my vehicles with emphasis on the underside to remove the salt and chemicals. Besides, on this vehicle I had to repaint the hood twice, roof once and replace the rear bumper so far- all due to rust. now my front bumper IS showing signs of rust. what's the matter - with all this excessive rusting on this vehicle. I have my other SUV parked right beside this at home and use it in the winter time. it IS much older than yukon and there IS no rust problem at all with it. Looks like there IS some serious problem with the metal used in this vehicle or lack of quality control. gm did a bad job with this vehicle. They say there was no recall on this model. would like to know if I can get compensated by gm for all this hardship. Do not know what else IS in store with this vehicle in future. have to get the brake job done right away but very pricey for my budget. please check into this problem and let me know how to proceed. looking forward to hearing from you soon. thanks, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr
TL* the contact owns a 1999 GMC yukon. The contact stated that while braking at low speeds, the vehicles front end would rattle and shake. The contact stated that the brake pedal would travel to the floorboard when depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Anytime I apply the brakes and reach a speed between 5 and 10 mph the ABS engages and the stopping distance IS greatly increased.
ABS failure. Unable to stop vehicle. Removed ABS module fuse to safely operate vehicle. *tr
Complete brake failure when two metal lines ruptured causing a loss of hydraulic pressure in both circuits during a hard stop. ABS had not activated. The braking took place at low speed when a car ahead stopped suddenly pedal sank to the floor, and the cable-activated parking brake was then used to avoid a collision and get the truck to the side of the road.
Brake rotor and pad kit purchased from rock auto was the wrong dimension and they refused to accept the improper fit, the following response from rock auto: :[xxx] I have received a reply from the manufacturer confirming that part number koe 1970, the rotors you received, are the correct rotors for a 1999 GMC yukon 5.7L V8 with 4WD and 6 lug wheels. the part number for these rotors should be ar8609xpr. if this IS not the number stamped on the rotor you received, you may have received a mis-boxed part. if that IS the case, please respond with the number that IS stamped on the rotor you received. if this number matches the rotors you received, you can simply follow the return instructions I have emailed to you. in this case we would be unable to refund you the original shipping, but we will cover the return shipping in the form of a shipping label. when the manufacturer says that the fit IS correct and the customer says it IS not, it IS our policy to split the shipping on the order. I apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your cooperation in this matter. this IS a very dangerous condition where the aftermarket "brokers" like rock auto are selling parts that are the wrong size and then supporting the manufacturer (profiting). The thickness of the rotor plate pushed my road wheel out beyond full wheel lug nut engagement and no engagement of the road wheel center hole with the bearing hub. The only contact was the lug nuts. This IS an extremely dangerous condition. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr
Same thing as already listed. My radio, wipers and windows stopped working. The radio will randomly come on but if you try to use the wipers or roll down a window it shuts all 3 down. Found through research this IS a common issue and requires the body control module to be replaced. *tr
Had to stop in a hurry on the freeway and was going about 60 miles an hour and hit the brakes, I believe the ABS locked up and I fishtailed from the left to the right and back to the left again. Engine shutoff automatically and check engine light came on. This nearly caused a multi car collision with a possible bridge fly away as we were on a bridge at the time. luckily through defensive driving was able to gain control of the vehicle and keep it from hitting anything or anyone, however now when turning right or left there IS a squeak at every rotation when going slow. Also the vehicle slowly hesitates coming to a stop and ABS will sometimes start engaging causing near collisions. *tr
Brake lines are completely corroding. Imminent brake failure. *tr
While slowly approaching stop sign on the first trip of the day, brakes were slow to respond and pedal depression was more than usual. Stopped on side of the road and had yukon towed to repair shop. Right front brake line found rusted through. Corrosion found on other three lines, but not as severe as right front. Replaced all four brake lines. Nine years of vehicle mileage accumulated in connecticut, and five in delaware. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 1999 GMC yukon. The contact stated that while applying the brake the vehicle slowed to approximately 3 mph but did not come to a stop. The dealer was notified and informed him that based on the information given there was corrosion on the brake sensor that caused the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileage was 120,000.
As I was pulling out of the parking lot of my work, onto a public road, I came to a stop sign. I had brake pedal pressure for about 1 second, then the pedal went to the floor. there was traffic coming from both directions so I became a little nervous. The truck did stop in time though. I knew I had blown a brake line right away. I went back to work and inspected the lines and the rear line had blown apart. this IS my second gm vehicle that blew a brake line in the exact same spot on the vehicle. I recently moved to florida, this vehicle has been an ohio vehicle all it life. *tr
Press brake pedal ,SUV did not stop noted leak under rear driver side above tire. *tr
I went to pull my horse trailer forward to load horses and the brake pedal went to the floor. I was able to turn the vehicle uphill to get it to stop. a neighbor took the protective panel off of the front undercarriage and found brake fluid leaking from the tubing. the truck IS scheduled to go to the repair shop tomorrow to fix this. *tr
(Rear brake line rupture) my wife was on her way to work when she applied the brakes the brake warning light came on. The pedal became real soft as if the vehicle wasn't going to stop. After returning home, upon investigation the brake master cylinder was almost empty. I found brake fluid coming out of a badly corroded brake line just behind the fuel tank. This could have been a very bad situation. We are the second owners on this vehicle, purchased in 2001. We have always kept it maintained and clean, including car washes after snow storms to remove road salt and sand. This should not be happening on an 11 year old vehicle, thankfully this didn't result in an accident. I have also noticed the fuel lines have corrosion at ever mounting location. So, I guess these are going to fail as well some time in the future. *Tr
Brake line failure due to corrosion of the lines,on my 1999 GMC yukon 1500 further inspection the entire undersection badly corroded. *Tr
TL* the contact owns a 1999 GMC yukon. The contact stated that the fuel pump failed at least seven times. The vehicle would stall without warning while traveling at any given speed. The vehicle would not restart when the failure would occur and would have to be towed to her place of residence. Initially, the fuel pump was replaced by the dealer under the factory warranty. All other repairs were made by an independent mechanic. The were no recalls on the vehicle and was outside of the warranty. The vin was not available at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 144,000.
Consumer's 1999 GMC yukon IS experiencing problem related to campaign number 05v379000. *nj the consumer stated he has been experiencing problems with the ABS for the past 10 years. The sensors were replaced twice. There were several attempts to get GMC to repair the problem, but with no success since the actual recall did not list the consumers make, model and year on the recall. The consumer stated there IS an obvious defect. *Jb
I purchased a set of bf goodrich all terrain tires for my 1999 GMC yukon. the left rear tire had a blow out after I drove the car about 12 miles since the new tire was installed at the discount tire dealership in burien washington. the tire was a c load rated tire, size 265 16 R75. the entire sidewall of the tire blew out around the circumference of the sidewall. I have never seen a blow out with this characteristic. this was a very serious event and it occurred on a band new tire. the tire was defective and there are likely other tires with this same defect. *Tr
Tl*the contact owns a 1999 GMC yukon. the contact IS experiencing issues with the ABS sensor on his brakes. while driving various speeds, the vehicle vibrates or the brake pedal extends to the floor when it IS depressed. the dealer stated that the vehicle was not under recall; therefore, the contact would have to pay for the ABS sensor repair. the failure mileage was 114,500. updated 05/26/09 *bf updated 05/28/09.*jb
Tl*the contact owns a 1999 GMC yukon. on april 20, 2009, the vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph. there had been no prior failures with the transmission since purchasing the vehicle used in january of 2009. in addition, there were alignment issues that caused the tires to explode, tie rod failure, brake failure, and the fuel gauge displays the incorrect amount of fuel in the vehicle. the failure mileage was 100,000. updated 5/27/09 *cn the upper and lower ball joints, lower ball joints, idler arm, steering gear, rack and pinion were all replaced. Updated 06/02/09.*jb
My security light come on and my car start for 3- 5 sec and die out..i been reading other people have the same problem...we need help... We don't have 500-600 hundred dollar to spend for a security light.. *Tr
Tl*the contact owns a 1999 GMC yukon. while driving approximately 50 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise when the brake pedal was depressed. the ABS engaged unintentionally before the vehicle stopped 5-10 feet later. there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was related to the ABS sensor. the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign ID number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock;control unit/module), although the failures were identical. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 95,000. updated 03/17/09. *lj the consumer stated the problem IS more frequent. Everytime he brakes the ABS engages for no reason. Updated 03/17/09. *Jb
Tl*the contact owns a 1999 GMC yukon. while making a left turn at low speeds, the vehicle was experiencing braking issues. the ABS activated and would not respond to the braking pressure. the vehicle continued to roll despite his efforts to utilize the brakes. he also heard a loud chattering noise coming from the vehicle when depressing the brake pedal. the vehicle continued rolling into traffic, but the contact was able to prevent it from crashing. updated 01-26-09 *bf updated 01/27/09. *Jb
I have an 1999 GMC yukon, the vehicle was experiencing unwanted anti-lock brake activation. This would happen every time I was traveling at around 5-10 mph. I check on the internet before scheduling the repair and found a recall on this issue with the vehicle. When calling to make an appointment for repair I was notified that my vehicle would not be covered under the recall. Nhtsa campaign ID number IS 05v379000. I have had my vehicle repaired and called GMC at 1-866-996-9463 and was told that I would have to pay for the repair myself. I"m very confused on how I have the exact issue as stated in the recall but because my vehicle ID number does not appear on the recall list I must pay for the repair. I would like to be reimbursed by GMC for the repair. *Tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) received Defect Petition DP10-003 on March 2, 2010, requesting the investigation of model year (MY) 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD pickup trucks for corrosion failures of the vehicle brake lines.DP10-003 was granted and on March 30, 2010, Preliminary Evaluation PE10-010 was opened on more than six million model year 1999 through 2003 light trucks and sport utility vehicles manufactured and sold by General Motors Corporation (GM).On July 2, 2010, ODI received GM's response to an information request, which included GM's assessment of the frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect. GM stated that:(1) the brake system of the subject vehicles is split front/rear and should a brake pipe suddenly fail for any reason, the affected vehicle would be capable of stopping with the pressure supplied by the remaining circuit; (2) the subject vehicles were designed to meet the hydraulic circuit partial failure requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 105 and 135, Light Vehicle Brake Systems; and (3) should a brake fluid leak occur for any reason, the brake system malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) would illuminate and warn the driver before the brake fluid level was low enough to cause a loss of line pressure.ODI's and GM's analysis indicates that 85 percent of the complaints occurred on vehicles used primarily in States that use salt on the roads during Winter months (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin).Overall the complaint rates per 100,000 vehicles for Salt Belt States is 43.0 and Non-Salt Belt is 3.0.In approximately 25 percent of the complaints the brake pipe failure occurred suddenly, with no warning (i.e., no MIL, Brake Fluid Loss Warning), and resulted in extended stopping distances. In 30 of these the increase in stopping distance that resulted was a factor in the crash and in 10 others the vehicle was intentionally steered off the road or into another lane of travel in order to avoid a crash. This investigation has been upgraded to an Engineering Analysis (EA11-001) for subject vehicles sold or currently registered in Salt Belt States to further assess the scope, frequency and safety risks associated with sudden failures of corroded brake pipes that can result in decreased brake effectiveness. ODI will continue to gather information on subject vehicles outside the Salt Belt as well.
In a letter dated august 29, 2005, gm notified odi that it was recalling certain model year 1999 through 2002 c/k pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles to correct a problem with anti-lock brake system (ABS) wheel speed sensor corrosion that may result in unwanted ABS activation and extended stopping distances during low-speed braking (recall 05v-379).gm's recall covers approximately 804,000 vehicles currently registered in the following 14 salt-belt states:connecticut, illinois, indiana, massachusetts, maine, michigan, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, and west virginia.the recall procedure will involve removing the sensor, cleaning the mounting surface, applying a rust inhibitor (zinc-x) to the surface, and reinstalling the sensor.if necessary, the sensor will be replaced. The population and failure report data given in this resume are for the full region that has been considered by odi as the salt-belt.that includes delaware, iowa, maryland, minnesota, missouri, wisconsin and the district of columbia in addition to the 14 states included in 05v-379.the states covered by gm's recall have the highest incident rates for the subject condition, accounting for 91% of the incidents, but only 24% of subject vehicle sales in the united states.odi's analysis determined that 840 of the complaints, 244 of the crashes, and 16 of the injuries identified in this investigation occurred in those states.the resulting incident and crash rates are 96.2 and 28.0 per 100,000 vehicles respectively (note:rates are based on vehicle sales, not registered vehicles). The corresponding numbers in the excluded portions of the salt-belt are 399,000 vehicles, 81 incidents (20.3 per 100,000 vehicles), 3 crashes, and no injuries.the statistics in the remaining 30 states are 2,406,000 vehicles, 168 incidents (7.0 per 100,000 vehicles), 31 crashes, and one injury.gm and odi are continuing to monitor the problem experience in states that are not included in the recall.gm will provide odi with updated complaint, field report, and warranty data in november 2005.odi and gm will review that data and assess the appropriateness of the current scope of the recall at that time.
This investigation involves the general motors corporation (gm)throttle body (tb) utilized in model year (my) 1999-2002 silverado, sierra, tahoe, suburban, avalanche and yukon (subject vehicle(s)) with 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L engines. The tb valve may intermittently stick in a closed position.in such a situation, an operator may apply additional accelerator pedal force to increase engine speed.the application of additional accelerator pedal force, to open a stuck throttle valve, may open the throttle valve more than intended and, in turn, accelerate the engine and vehicle more than intended and reasonably expected by the driver.on august 1, 2002, the office of defects investigation (odi), of the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), opened this engineering analysis.the investigation revealed that two factors may cause the defect: 1) tb manufacturing process problems; and 2) accumulation of deposits (a pcv system by-product) on or around the tb throttle valve and bore.odi concludes that the tb performs in a defective manner after analyzing gm?s data submissions, and test data collected by the vehicle research and test center (vrtc).fifty-nine crashes are alleged to have occurred as a result of gm?s tb defect.the majority of the crashes involve a single vehicle, engaging in a close quarter vehicle maneuver (or low speed), and causing only minor property damage.four out of the fifty-nine crashes involve injury, and those injuries were minor.although gm?s tb IS defective, based on the evidence gathered, odi has found that the accelerator pedal force required to open a stuck throttle valve IS negligible, and the throttle valve does not stick in the open position.therefore this engineering analysis (ea02-015) will be closed at this time.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.for a detailed discussion of the tb component and testing, please see the attached report.
Odi has received one (1) complaint alleging that the 2ND row passenger-side seat belt release buckle anchor detached from seat frame during a side impact crash.during the crash, the occupant was thrown from his seat, partially ejected through the rear quarter window of the vehicle.occupant sustained injury.gm has subsequently changed seat belt anchoring design in my 2000. Odi has completed a preliminary investigation and has determined that further information IS needed to determine whether a safety defect exists.
The office of defect investigation (odi) has investigated allegations of power steering assist fluctuations in the subject vehicles.for details and a basis for the investigation conclusions, please see the closing report in the ea99-011 public file.odi has not identified a safety-related defect trend in the subject vehicle population.futher expenditure of agency resources on this subject does not appear to be warranted at this time.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.the engineering IS closed.
