Risk
If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line with one that does not have a damper, free of charge. The safety recall began on February 25, 2014. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 13S13. IMPORTANT: This recall supersedes recall 12V-438. All vehicles that have been remedied under the previous recall need to have the current remedy applied.

When I bought the vehicle used from a dealership they told me it didn't have any recalls on the vehicle but later own I found out it did have a recall for the abs system so i called the ford company and they told me that the recall has already ended and they wouldn't fix it and now when I look it up online it showed the brake boosted had a recall to that the dealership never told me about but now I believe the recall has already ended on that to but not sure. But if the dealership told me the truth instead of lying to me I could have got to fix so I am wondering if there is away I could get those to recalls done on my 2012 ford edge. I noticed the abs messing up just a couple months after I bought it which was I believe in 2021 or 2022 and the brake booster started messing up around july 15, 2026

The rear camera only works sporadically. It will work once in awhile or will work and then not work at all for awhile. So far Ford has not addressed this make and model as having a problem. One of our teenagers is the primary driver and this is unsafe.

RE:Safety Complaint - Defective FCIM Causing Hazard Flashers to Activate Randomly May 22, 2026 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally complain about a serious electrical defect affecting my 2012 Ford Edge involving the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM). The vehicle’s hazard flashers activate randomly and repeatedly without warning, even when the vehicle is completely off and parked or operating normally. This issue appears to originate from a failed or malfunctioning FCIM module, despite the vehicle not being abused, modified, or involved in any event that would reasonably cause this failure. This defect creates multiple safety concerns, including: - Unexpected flashing while driving - Battery drain while parked - Driver distraction - Potential confusion for surrounding traffic - Loss of confidence in the vehicle’s electrical system After researching this issue, I discovered that many other Ford Edge owners have reported nearly identical FCIM-related failures, suggesting this may be a widespread defect rather than normal wear and tear. I am extremely disappointed that owners are being forced to pay significant repair costs for what appears to be a recurring design or manufacturing problem. Electronic control modules should not fail under ordinary use conditions in a manner that compromises vehicle safety functions. I respectfully request that Ford: - Investigate this recurring FCIM failure issue, - Offer goodwill repair assistance or reimbursement, - Consider issuing a technical service campaign or recall if appropriate, - And acknowledge the safety risks associated with malfunctioning hazard systems. As I was driving into a parking lot space, I stepped on the brake pedal, and it sank to the floor. I rapidly pumped the pedal 2 or 3 times, but it continued to sink to the floor. As the car continued moving forward, I tried to avoid colliding with landscape items, drove between 2 parked cars, scraping one or both of them, and injured a pedestrian. My vehicle stopped when I jammed the gear control into the “PARK” position.

This reduces the driver’s view of the area behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a backover crash. I have just over 90,000 on the car and every 15,000 to do brakes again is unbelievable.

The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle had been taken to an independent mechanic and was advised that the vehicle needed to be taken to a dealer. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the rearview camera system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact researched online and associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

2012 Ford Edge brake failure occurred without any warning while I was driving on I85. Brake pedal went to floor with diminished braking ability when a vehicle adjacent changed lanes quickly to in front of my vehicle. Luckily no accident occurred. Vehicle was taken to Ford dealer. A previous issue with brakes happened in 2021/mileage 109k and brake booster was replaced under recall 13N02 at that time. Dealer diagnosed current brake issue and recommended replacing HCU AND MASTER CYLINDER DUE TO VALVES AND SEAL LEAKING INTERNALLY. RELACE OIL SENDING UNIT ALSO DUE TO IT LEAKING OIL. Mileage 146K Vehicle is unsafe to drive as is. Cost of repairs is close to value of car.

Driving is a concern as I am afraid it might pop into another gear. My year 2012 is not in the recall that effects 2015-2018 models but it's the exact same issue.

Ford Edge 2012 Limited 2.0L [XXX] The brake pedal went all the way to the floor while my wife was driving a few times. The brakes DID NOT STOP OR SLOW THE CAR AT ALL! She pumped the brake pedal and braking came back. But, after that we could not trust the brake system. We paid AutoNation Ford in Fort Worth, Texas $2,694.45 on 10/11/2023 to replace the ABS system, after their recommendation that this will fix the problem. This did fix the problem until recently this past week on 9/21/2025, when the brake pedal went to the floor without any braking, just continued to move forward in our driveway. The next push on the brake pedal did provide braking but now seems a little soft. My wife’s sister also has a Ford Edge with similar or the same symptoms, a 2013 Edge. My daughter has a 2012 Ford Fusion with similar or the same symptoms. This is a very dangerous SAFETY PROBLEM with these Ford cars! I suspect that this problem is more widespread than just my family, more Ford Edge vehicles with this ABS problem. A Ford Edge ABS RECALL might be required to help Ford customers be safe! The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V270000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the VIN, the make, or model was not included in the recall. The first incident occurred in GA on vacation in June. While my spouse was driving, he said the brakes seemed squishy and were not right. When he braked to stop the car to get gas, his foot went almost to the floor. After getting gas, I drove and they did not seem right. The second incident happened the beginning of August and I was coming down a relatively steep hill. I went to brake and my foot went all the way to the floor and did not completely stop. I took the car to my mechanic and he wasn't sure of the problem, and to another mechanic. The 2nd thought it was the brake booster. I then took it to the Ford dealership where I bought it last August and had them look at it. They said it is the ABS module and that I am #829 on the list of 1300 people that need that part, that Ford has no idea when it will be available. The third incident was last Sat, [XXX] and I had No Brakes At All, so I had to take my husband's car to work. In All the incidents, I was at risk, as well as my family and the people driving in front & back of me. I have also had issues of the AC coming in for NO Reason, and after I turn it down, it turns itself back on at full blast. This car is NOT SAFE. The backup camera is faulty. Sometimes you will start the car and it works but most of the time it is just a black screen. I can go out and make several stops and sometimes it will flash on and then go right off. I know there have been several recalls about this but this model so far hasn't been included. It is a widespread problem as I have another Ford vehicle that does the same thing and it is a safety issue.

The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, or while the vehicle was parked, the contact observed an abnormal gasoline odor in the vehicle. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power while attempting to accelerate, with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, a "Turbo Boost" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered a fuel leak. The contact was informed that either the fuel tank or fuel lines needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,260.

Brake pedal hitting the floor : issue comes and goes very rarely . First complain reported on april 2014: brake booster replaced on warranty. Last complain reported to original car dealer: could not identify the issue. In between these two dates, brake booster has been replaced recently. ABS hydraulic control unit may cause the brake failure, no ABS light yet. Ford honored an extended warranty on brake power booster in 2020. Performing a few repeated sudden stops at certain speed gets the brakes to how it should be. no accident ever involved.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation on September 28, 2016 based on allegations that the door ajar light located on the instrument cluster stays on all of the time even when all doors are closed and fully latched on 2011-2013 model year Ford Edge vehicles.When the light is illuminated continuously, vehicle occupants cannot be certain if any of the doors are properly latched.Reported safety consequences as a result of this issue include doors opening while driving (because doors were initially not latched properly), doors cannot be locked while driving, and the interior dome lights staying on continuously. Ford data received from the Information Request letter corresponding to this investigation indicates the failures were caused by contamination of the electrical contacts on the switch located within each door latch that tells the vehicle if the door is open or closed.All four doors contain the same latch design and switch.According to Ford, the Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the position of the switch and continuously samples it to detect a state of change.After a closed door state is detected, a continuous wetting current designed to keep the electrical contacts clean is sent from the BCM to the switches as long as the BCM is active.Beginning with the 2011 model year Edge vehicles, a change in BCM strategy resulted in a reduction of the wetting current sent out to clean the switch contacts by more than 75%.Over time, this low level of current is not sufficient to keep the switch contacts clean and contamination build up causes them to fail as described above.During the course of this investigation, ODI has identified a total of 1,983 complaints related to the door ajar light.Of these complaints, 14 indicated that a door opened while driving.Twelve of the 14 door opening events were situations where an occupant of the vehicle (often a child) opened a passenger door because the doors were not locked.The remaining two complaints involved a door opening on its own because the driver was unaware that the door was unlatched.There were no accidents but one complainant reported that a shoulder injury was caused by the driver having to repeatedly slam the door in an effort to get the door ajar light to turn off.After reviewing all available data, an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety has not been identified.The door latches themselves continue to function properly, remaining securely latched until acted upon by a driver or passenger.Child safety locks on the rear doors continue to function properly and can be used to prevent the rear doors from opening via the inside door handles.Vehicle crashworthiness is not affected by the lock condition of the doors and all active safety systems continue to function normally even if the vehicle BCM believes one or more doors is open.In addition, no accidents or accident related injuries have been reported.A safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.Accordingly, the investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist.The agency will monitor the issue and reserves the right to take future action if warranted by the circumstances.ODI numbers for the reports cited above are shown in the attached document.

- 10164508Some 2010-2020 vehicles may exhibit distorted glass with a subtle orange peel pattern or streaking etched into the surface. This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition.

Positive battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-AA and negative battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-BA are available for this type of repair. Do not cut or shorten the battery cable, instead carefully remove the affected battery cable clamp and clean the cable end as necessary to preserve wire length. Some rework may be necessary for some vehicle environments. Bend the new positive battery cable clamp as needed and crimp it to the existing battery cable. Make sure to use heat shrink tubing over the battery cable to battery cable clamp connection. Obtain the heat shrink tube locally.
- 10160931On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
