Remedy
The APIM software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2026. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S09. Risk
A frozen or missing rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model and model years. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on June 26, 2025. Additional letters will be mailed once the final remedy is available on each phase. Owner notification letters were sent on October 8, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S49.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023 Edge vehicles. The front right headlight may be too bright or aimed incorrectly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Remedy

The ClickTight mechanism is what allows the car seat to be moved in/out of the vehicle after securing using the seatbelt of the vehicle. Essentially, this mechanism causes the bottom of the car seat to fold up and allows the parent to unlatch the seatbelt to move the car seat. This mechanism is spring loaded and is supposed to lock/unlock by simply squeezing together two red handles. On my car seat, this mechanism has become stuck and does not allow the mechanism to lock into place & secure the car seat onto the seat belt. I am unsure of what is causing this jam, but I have only purchased this car seat on May 15, 2026 in brand new condition from Amazon. I have not been involved in an accident, nor has the car seat been moved in/out of the car excessively (perhaps 6-7 times at most until the first incident on 8/25/2026).

On June 20th 2026 while driving my 2023 Ford Edge SEL AWD at approximately 35mph on an active hwy (93 AZ NB in Wickenburg AZ) the vehicle experienced a sudden catastrophic loss of motive power and came to a sudden stop in a jerking motion. The vehicle completely disabled itself without warning in live traffic, presenting an immediate and severe safety hazard to myself and surrounding motorists. I was forced to stay in an immobile position impeding the flow of traffic and could not coast safely out of the way of hazardous traffic conditions and subsequently was almost hit by a semi-truck and another POV. The vehicle was subsequently towed out of the hwy with law enforcement present for safety and the local repair shop provided a quick analysis of transmission failure. About 2 weeks later, the vehicle was towed by AAA to another mechanic and subsequently an authorized Ford Dealership where through diagnostic evaluation and repair. The official scan log revealed a critical internal failure of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) identified by Diagnostic Trouble Code P0600 (serial communication link failure). This total electronic communication breakdown immediately triggered an un-commanded cascade of secondary transmission performance faults, specifically P0751 (shift solenoid A Stuck off) and P2700, P2701, P2704, P27B2, P27B4 (transmission friction element application time/performance faults). The failure terminated in codes P073D (unable to engage neutral), P07E4 (unable to engage gear 7), and P07E6 (unable to engage gear 8) which locked the powertrain. Crucially, this sudden module collapse and cascading powertrain destruction occurred exactly 81 days following a mandated Factory Recall regarding the PCM was performed by an authorized FORD dealership on my vehicle. The engineering evidence suggests that a corrupted software flash or module disruption during the recall process caused the master PCM to issue erratic hydraulic line pressure commands, starving the trans

I reported this the other day. The screen will go black and stay that way for several minutes. It will then come back on then out again. It's getting a lot worse. I'm an older lady that's a lower leg amputee trying to work and I need this screen for directions as I'm by myself in areas I don't really know at night. It's a serious safety issue. Dealer refuses to fix anything since we bought this, says it's the battery, but battery was checked by 4 different places and is in excellent shape. This is beyond a dangerous issue and it needs fixed immediately.

When driving the screen will black out and be off for several seconds. It does not reform to what was on there before this happened. This has hairbrush at least 60 times since owning this vehicle. Took it back to dealer and they said needs new battery. Took too another dealer they said battery is just fine. This is a serious issue that Ford refuses to fix correctly.

The vehicle automatically locks the doors when you begin driving. We were aware that when stopped the doors would automatically unlock when you tried to open them but have found that this can also happen while driving. While driving our daughter pulled on her door handle which caused the door to unlock, then pulled the handle again and was able to open the door enough to trigger the door ajar warning which alerted us to the situation. While we were able to engage the child lock to prevent this from happening again, it is concerning that pulling on the handle would cause the door to unlock when the vehicle is not in park as that can create a dangerous situation very easily.

The APIM has a known software issue that blanks out the main display and control screen. While not a safety issue for the Radio. It Does eliminate the climate control system. It makes it impossible to turn on, adjust or turn off defrosters. So if windows start to fog there is NO control. The results are attempting to navigate to the side of the road. Secondly this is draining the battery shutting down systems. Ford is aware of the issue and tells dealers they hope a Software update in First Quarter 2025. This is an over the air software update that will not be able to be downloaded due to system shut downs.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the BBB had a Ford inspector diagnose the vehicle; however, no diagnostic codes were retrieved. The dealer replaced the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) and performed an unknown software update. The failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Sioux City Ford Lincoln (3601 Singing Hills Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51106), where a technician test-drove the vehicle with the contact. The contact was informed that the vehicle had been involved in a collision, which voided the warranty coverage. The vehicle was later taken back to the second dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle had not been involved in a collision. After two weeks in the possession of the dealer, the vehicle was returned to the contact; however, the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts. The vehicle was driven and towed to the dealer on multiple occasions where diagnostics were performed but no defects were found. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Refer to General Service Bulletin (GSB) 23-7146 for help determining the latest available level of software. IMPORTANT: some module software updates will only display as available on Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) after prerequisite modules are updated. This may require the technician to update certain modules multiple times during the service visit, before the latest APIM software is accessible in FDRS. If symptoms continue after latest APIM software has been installed, inform customers that Ford is working on additional software enhancements which are expected to be delivered over-the-air (OTA) by Q4 2024 on F-150, F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Mustang, Escape, Corsair, Expedition, Navigator, Bronco, Mustang, and 2023-2024 F-Super Duty. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicle's settings. For all other vehicles with SYNC4, schedule a service visit for customers in October 2024, when the updated APIM software is expected to be available to dealers. Monitor OASIS for additional information.

If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.

Read and follow allTechnical Service Bulletins (TSB), Special Service Message (SSM)s or General Service Bulletin (GSB) first if abulletin specifically addresses the vehicle concern. If there are no messages, run the appropriate diagnosticpinpoint test found in the Workshop Manual (WSM). Follow the steps in the pinpoint test. Make sure to note thetitle of the guided routine, using the correct one for the vehicle's symptom or diagnostic trouble code (DTC) iscritical. Depending on the outcome of the pinpoint test, a repair validation code (RVC) may be generated eitherin the pinpoint test or Guided Routine. If the vehicle concern still exists after following the pinpoint tests orguided routine, then a manual RVC can be generated using the RVC Assist Form. A manual RVC can only begenerated once the above process has been followed.

To correct the concern, download and run the Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation app: under HS1 modules select BCM > Transport and Factory Mode > Download > Run. When the pop-up message appears for Change Vehicle Mode - Transport/Factory/Normal Mode, press OK. This will proceed to the Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation screen, select Unlock Vehicle Connectivity Settings (21 MY + Vehicles). A pop-up message appears noting Vehicle Is Now In Normal Mode, select OK. This will return to the Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation screen, select Exit. A final pop-up notification stating that the application is finished, select OK. For claiming, use causal part 14G490 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.

Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.

Since this is a fleet vehicle, it cannot access the (SYNC Connect) FordPass or LincolnWay app through the TCU Embedded Modem. If this message appears, the vehicle may be equipped with a fleet telematics module. Replacement of the TCU or TCU related repairs will not prevent this message from appearing. If this DTC is present, verify the battery condition, then perform pin point test (PPT) KC of the Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 310-01. If PPT KC leads to component replacement, start with replacing the PCM and then evaluate the vehicle. If the DTC returns, follow WSM, Section 310-01 PPT KC direction to address the issue.

This condition is most noticeable at idle and may lessen at higher engine speed or while driving. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and will not get worse over time. Use a stethoscope or chassis ears and listen just behind the left cylinder head intake VCT solenoid on the cam cover to determine if the thump/knock noise is coming from the cylinder head/camshaft. The left cylinder head and the camshaft roller followers are available as service parts.

This is due to a concern with the Google application on the customers device. Google has released a fix for these concerns. For Android phones not connecting wirelessly, request that the customer update their Android Auto version to 6.1 or later. For customers who's Android phone reboots when connected via USB, request that the customer update their Chrome application to 88.0.4324.181 or later. The customers service provider should be able to assist customers having difficulty updating their device. This is not a warrantable repair.

It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

The block heater should not be tested unless all the air has been removed from the engine cooling system following this procedure.
