The rear-view camera could display a blank or distorted image on the center display screen when the vehicle is in reverse. We also receive a message that the rear-view camera is unavailable on the center display screen.
Backup camera is distorted, upside down, blue screen, or message displayed stating “Rearview camera not available”. I received the recall notice that was mailed October 2025. I have since contacted my local Ford dealership attempting to have this recall resolved, each time to be told that parts are not available yet, only for the Ford Mustang. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This is a safety concern, as not only do I work at an elementary school, but I also have young grandchildren under the age of 4. This camera issue started before the recall was even issued, and has gotten worse, occurring 97% of the time vehicle is on Reverse. It has been confirmed by the local dealership that the codes read do align with the recall notice. It has been over one year since the recall was issued, and the only available parts are for Ford Mustangs, which represent a small portion of affected vehicles. There are many more models affected, and a year is definitely NOT a timely manner. I even bought a new vehicle in March 2026 (NOT a Ford) as I am tired of waiting for this recall to be resolved. This situation is causing me to regret owning a Ford.
The contact’s daughter owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V695000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the remedy to be available. While the owner was reversing, the back over prevention camera displayed a blue screen with the message “Rear-view Camera Unavailable”. During the failure the vehicle crashed into a vehicle behind. The other vehicle was damaged.
Recall 25V695 Rear backup camera is not working half of the time-totally black screen. Received recall notice in October 2025. Called Ford in October 2026 (a year later) and was told parts still not available and they had no idea when they would be available. This is unacceptable. I believe a year is adequate time to correct this issue. I would like to file a formal complaint.

I replaced my transmission around 156000 miles the repair shop replaced my transmission with a brand new transmission from a ford dealer. Less than 6000 miles on my new transmission it needed to be replaced again. My transmission is having issues again with less then 20000 miles on the second transmission.
My 2015 Ford Escape is subject to NHTSA Safety Recall 25V695/Ford Campaign 25SA9 concerning failure of the rearview camera. The recall was filed October 13, 2025. I have repeatedly attempted to obtain the recall repair through authorized Ford dealers in my area, but I continue to be told that the required part is unavailable. I contacted Ford today (10/21/26) asking for assistance in locating a dealer that can obtain the required part and complete the repair. I was once again told that a remedy is not available at this time. I am requesting assistance regarding Ford's inability to provide the recall remedy to replace the camera. Currently, my rearview camera only sporadically comes on, and when it does, the image is upside down.
A recall was issued on my 2015 Ford Escape's rearview camera. There wasn't a fix for it at the time and over a year later, there still isn't a fix. I have heard nothing new on when to expect it to be repaired. I was originally informed it would be June 2026. I live around a lot of young children and depend on my rearview camera to help me watch out for them. The problem has gotten to where my rearview camera very seldom works at all now. When can all of the Ford owners with this problem expect it to be fixed? Thank you.

The back up camera is not working. It glitches and turns off at different times. I saw there was a recall 25SA9 so I took it into the dealer. The dealer inspected it but said that there is currently no remedy. The recall was put out a year ago and there's still no remedy. They said there probably will not be a remedy for another 9 months. I use my car for work and I'm not allowed to use it because of this recall and the recall cannot be removed because there are no parts to replace it with by the dealer and the insurance of my work will not cover it even if it is replaced by aftermarket company because there is still an open recall showing in the database. My only other option is use the car outside of my normal work and put my customers at risk. When I called Ford customer service I was told the same thing. When I requested a rental car they said there is no provision for a rental car to replace my car that I cannot use for even though I purchased it for this reason. I contacted two dealerships and ford customer service and was told the same thing that they can do nothing at this time because their is no remedy at this time.

For approximately two years, my Ford Escape’s rearview camera has been inoperative, displaying “Camera Not Available. Please Contact Ford Dealership.” I subsequently discovered an outstanding safety recall addressing rearview camera defects. Approximately one year after the recall was issued, Ford still has not made an official remedy available for my vehicle. I contacted Ford Customer Support multiple times to request a repair timeline. Ford suggested that I pay a dealership to replace the camera now and seek reimbursement once the official recall remedy becomes available. Local Ford dealerships quoted $643–$978 for this repair. Ford did not provide a definite timeline for either the remedy or reimbursement. I am concerned that Ford is shifting the upfront cost of addressing a recognized safety issue onto vehicle owners. Some owners may be unable to afford the repair; others may lose receipts, sell their vehicles, or miss the opportunity to request reimbursement after an extended delay. If a replacement camera can restore functionality, Ford should explain why it cannot fund that interim repair directly. An inoperative rearview camera reduces visibility of pedestrians, children, vehicles, and obstacles while reversing. It may also reduce the vehicle’s resale value while the recall remains unresolved. My camera has already been unusable for approximately two years, and the recall has remained without an available remedy for about a year. I request that NHTSA review Ford’s delay, its customer-paid interim repair proposal, and whether affected owners should receive free temporary replacements while awaiting a permanent remedy. I also ask NHTSA to assess whether further oversight is warranted to ensure a timely, effective, no-cost recall repair.

coolant intrusion
I am writing this complaint in as it states on the website "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner" to report the incident. In regards to Manufacturer Recall Number 25SA9 and NHTSA Recall Number 25v695 dated 10/13/25 the Recall Status is still "Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available" regarding this issue with 2015 Ford Escapes. I'm not having this issue directly, but a possibly related issue. My other display screen on my dashboard has completely stopped working, making it so I'm unable to see the current mileage on my vehicle. This is impacting other features on the car but this is the most notable.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
In December 2019, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation based on 235 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging doors failed to latch when closed, and/or inadvertently opened while driving, on model year (MY) 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta, and 2013-2014 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. Some VOQs reported the failure occurred after the latch had been remedied under a prior recall which involved fracture of the latch pawl spring tab due to thermally induced cyclic fatigue. Other VOQs alleged a similar failure in vehicles not previously recalled. A latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a ?door will not close? condition, however in certain somewhat rare circumstances, may result in the door coming open while driving. In response to ODI?s investigation, Ford has announced three field actions, as discussed below. On March 23, 2020, Ford submitted Safety Recall 20V-177 (Ford 20S15), a regional recall campaign to address door latch failures in vehicles not previously recalled under Safety Recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 and 17V-210. The recall affects vehicles currently or ever registered in certain high ambient temperature states (see 20V-177 for affected states). As a remedy, Ford will replace all four door latches free of charge. On August 24, 2020, Ford issued a non-safety regional field action (Ford 20R01) to address door latch failures on the same model/MY vehicles not covered under 20V-177 (i.e., not currently/ever registered in affected states). According to Ford, spring tab failure rates for vehicles covered by this action are about half that of the 20V-177 vehicles. Under this action, dealers will replace all door latches, free of charge, if either; a) the vehicle exhibits a related latch concern, or b) if the vehicle owner expresses a concern about the latches in their vehicles. Details can be found under NHTSA TSB No. 10190990, a copy of which is available in this investigative file available at NHTSA.gov.On June 8, 2020, Ford submitted Safety Recall 20V-331 (Ford 20S30) addressing vehicles previously remedied under NHTSA Recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 and 17V-210, where the repair may not have been properly completed, specifically not all of the door latches were replaced, or replaced correctly. This recall involves an inspection of the latches, with the option for a consumer self-inspection; owners could view the date codes on their latches (and confirm child safety locks are present on the rear doors) and then submit the information to Ford?s mobile app or website. A dealership inspection option was also available. Any vehicle found to have unreplaced defective latches requires the replacement of all door latches as directed by Ford.Regarding the 4,494 reports cited above, 1,485 involve scope-related failures (with 13% alleging door opening), and the remaining 3,009 reports involving remedy concerns (with 18% alleging door opening - note ODI was unable to verify the allegations of door opening). The three ODI injuries were all relatively minor. Ford?s reported injury incidences include one (unconfirmed) report of an ejection, three minor injuries with the others involving undisclosed injuries. Ford?s crashes involved two (unconfirmed) crashes alleging the incident door contacted another vehicle and three involving doors striking other property. The recalled vehicles include MY 2011-2015 Ford Fiesta, 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015 Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKC, 2013-2015 Ford Escape and Ford C-MAX, 2012-2015 Ford Focus and 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect.Ford's actions address ODI's concerns at this time. ODI will take further action if warranted by new information. The reference (OD
In January, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation based on consumers' allegations of doors failing to latch and/or inadvertently opening on model year (MY) 2012-2013 Ford Focus vehicles (subject vehicles).ODI has received 464 unique reports related to the alleged problem, with over 200 claiming that the door(s) opened inadvertently while the vehicle was in motion. One consumer alleged an injury that occurred while driving when a door inadvertently opened and then closed on a child's arm.Another alleged that a door that inadvertently opened struck a parked vehicle. In response to ODI's information request, Ford Motor Company (Ford) provided 500 unique reports related to the alleged problem on the subject vehicles.Ford reported no injury or accident claims.Ford also submitted 1,513 warranty claims related to door latch failures. Many customers indicated that the affected door could not be latched at all and some of them decided to restrain the door by other means in order to operate the vehicle. Some customers also reported door latch failures occurring on multiple doors and at different times.Additionally, Ford stated that MY 2014-2015 Ford Focus, 2013-2015 Ford Escape, 2013-2015 Ford C-Max, 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect, 2015 Ford Mustang, and 2015 Lincoln MKC, all use the same door latch as the 2012-2013 Ford Focus. On September 6, 2016, Ford notified ODI that it would conduct a safety recall (16V-643) to remedy the door latches in the MY 2012-2015 Ford Focus and other Ford models mentioned above (total of approximately 2 million vehicles).According to Ford, a component within the door latch may break preventing the door from latching.Ford dealers will replace all four door latches in the recalled vehicles with a new more robust latch design that is currently in production. The recall action initiated by the manufacturer appears to address the safety risks.Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the identification (ODI) numbers found in the attached list.
