When stepping on brakes while directional IS on the directionals stop functioning while in motion and turning which IS a serious safety hazard im wondering why nhtsa 11v352000 IS allowing ford to only repair certain vins especially when my year make and model are specified in the summary.with the same exact symptoms???
On several occasions, my F250, super duty 6.0 diesel became sluggish and gas mileage suffered immensely. Then, with only 53,000 miles, my left rear disk brake caliper was dragging and started smoking. At my cost and on the left rear, I had ford replace the caliper, pads, brake line and resurface the rotors. Also, the right rear rotor was resurfaced. At 54,000, I make a 100 mile trip and the right rear caliper started dragging. I am not sure how to fix this since no one has the solution.additionally, I do not have the money to replace the entire brake system. However, this could cause total brake failure and a possible fire resulting in fatalities.
Tire began to shimmy, pulled over found nothing wrong, 25 miles later tire blew at highway speed causing lose of control. tire belts did extensive damage to vehicle. same tire as nhtsa recall number 15t-061 but manufactured 4 months prior to earliest recall production date.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 05v270000 (electrical system) but the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. While driving home from work, just leaving town I hit 50 mph and the truck starts to wobble from side to side and vibrate till I slow down to under 40 mph. I got the notice from ford telling me it all had to do with tire pressure. I inflated the tires to the required pressure and it only made things worse. I have contacted them the first time this happened only for them to tell me there IS nothing wrong. Clearly there IS a problem. I have spent so much money replacing parts in the front end of this truck. Tires are now junk on the front end. The only thing I could do IS under inflate the front tires to gain better control and drive slower. Still wobbles just not as bad. This IS an on going problem I have everyday.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing on two separate occasions. The mechanic was unable to locate a failure on each visit. The vehicle was also taken to the dealer who discovered that the failure was contributed to the faulty fuel injection control module and fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 05v270000 (electrical system) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 138,576. ma 08/10/15 updated 11/30/2015 *js

I was heading down my street in my neighborhood and just before the street bends to the left my truck stalled and I lost my power brakes and power steering. doing the best I could I turned the wheel just enough to avoid the car parked on the side of the street then I proceeded to run through my neighbor's wrought iron gate and plaster coming to rest on the hill in his front yard. after assessing the damage, I tried to start my truck to see if I could move it. it started and I moved it to my driveway. after the repairs were done at the body shop I then took it to my mechanic where he discovered a faulty wire in the wire harness causing the engine to stall without any notice or signs of trouble. later I learned from my insurance company that there was a recall for the 2004-2005 models for the wire harness specifically, that I never received any information on. *tr

Losing water and oil from exhaust, white smoke. vehicle losing coolant from exhaust pipe. hard start. acts like high pressure oil, blows lots of white smoke out of exhaust. installed ids/ computer and installed coolant pressure gauge in line on cooling system. monitored ect/eot and coolant pressure.. got vehicle to normal operating temp. ect/eot were at 15 degrees difference which IS maximum allowance for oil cooler temp.ford recommends it be replaced when it reaches 15 degree difference. also recommend replace egr cooler with oil cooler as a set. perform tsb 09-08-3, test degass bottle-ok. egr test on vehicle passed, installed pressure gauge. road test for head gaskets - 21 psi in cooling system failed. performed turbo over boost - test passed. failed items: head gaskets, oil cooler. when tearing apart need check concern with high pressure oil system. estimate to repair around $7000 which neither ford nor dealer, legacy ford, will cover under warranty. what IS the warranty for if not to repair ford's junk? so now an expensive truck sits unusable because of ford and they have lost a long time believer in ford vehicles, this IS my last ford. *tr

Hard to start. replace bracelet kit. under warranty by ford of walla walla. good company. replaced by legacy. No more warranty when dealers change?. *tr
Stopped at a stop sign, accelerated to make left turn, hit either a bump or patch of sand when steering took to left then right and could not get back. Hit a guardrail and landed in ditch. My truck IS totaled but luckily I was not severely injured. *tr
When ever the truck goes over something like an bulged expansion joint or a pot hole with speed in excess of 40-45, it will react violently. often the vehicle will move over a foot or two(depending on the speed of the truck) in the lane of traffic. the bouncing/shaking of the front wheels IS over in several seconds, but IS severe none the less. if you hit a bump on a curve, the vehicle will almost go off the road. this has happened enough times over the years that I attempted evasive action/slow way down when I see I'm about to strike something that will set the suspension into bounce mode. many, many, many ford super duty owners have complained about this issue and all ford can say IS that it's the owners fault for not keeping the tires aired properly. I dare you to come drive my truck!!!!!!!!! yes, I have changed the oem shocks to bilstens for the F250 applications and have installed a stiffer steering stabilizer shock. have also experimented with various air pressure settings. nothing made any difference. truck still has stock suspension springs.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but had not been diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
I was driving down a main st, going about 35 mph...when I hit a bump the truck would shake violently and the steering wheel was also shaking violently , I had it diagnosed as the drag link ball joint and an upper ball joint both on the passenger side front...i got a letter in the mail from ford just yesterday about the shimmy/shaking issue, the letter states that it IS due to tire pressure in which I believe to be very wrong!! *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2005 ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the temperature warning light illuminated. The contact noticed that the vehicle was overheated and pulled the vehicle over to let it cool down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the igr valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,500.
This IS the third time I have encountered this problem, and reported this problem as well. . Brought to ford dealership and told they did not find anything wrong with the vehicle. It continued to happen. I brought the truck to an independent repair shop who knew right away that the calipers were seized.. I paid approximately $1100.00 for that brake job and told that ford would not warranty the parts it was beyond the warranty. I was told there was a re-design of the brake shoes. They replaced one rear rotors, "freed up" one rear caliper. I did advise drivers front was seizing up at one point as well. I was provided the rear rotors and shoes. The shoes were well within usable range which was noted by myself, also a diesel mechanic and a independent auto repair shop. The day I picked up the vehicle I was driving home lost all brakes. I had it towed at my own expense then they discovered the other rear caliper had in fact seized like I had told them they replaced it cost me for the repair.this year may 2013 was again noticed smell of the brakes burning, along with familiar bouncing. Only this time I drove 8 miles when heavy smoke was coming from front wheel what I told them last time and they didn't fix it back to the dealership it went. Although they fixed the problem it cost me the fee for the service. I paid the outrageous price of $2400.00 in 2011 for the extended warranty knowing this truck would be costing far more than that in future. The mystery vibration some experience that cant be "repeated" at the dealership other than the crap of tire inflation or "road force balancing" which there IS no tire shop within 50 miles of me that has ever heard of such a thing IS most likely the brakes. *tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
This investigation was opened based on 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel oscillations after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven surface.odi was concerned about these complaints because many of them alleged loss of control and the loss of control occurredat speeds above 50 miles per hour.at the time these complaints were received, odi was also aware of the tsb 07-10-10 and early warning field reports that discussed the shimmy condition on the subject vehicles.since opening this investigation, odi has confirmed, based on consumer complaints, warranty data, testing conducted by vrtc, and odi inspection of complaint vehicles, that the owners of the subject vehicles are experiencing shimmy events on their vehicles.however, odi has also confirmed that owners typically do not maintain their tires at the pressures recommended by ford on the tire label.further, odi has found that in order for shimmy to occur, tire pressures must be substantially below (at least 20%) those specified on the vehicle tire label.odi considers these unsafe tire conditions to be the result of one of three typical situations.the tires are being improperly maintained, the owners are intentionally setting the tire pressures low to enhance ride quality, or aftermarket tires (not designed for use on the vehicle) are installed to change the appearance or function of the vehicle.the subject vehicles are intended and designed to be used as heavy duty vehicles and as such require that the tires be capable of handling the loads for which the vehicle IS designed and marketed.in order for the tires to be capable of handling these loads, the proper tire pressure must be maintained.in light of the information gathered in this investigation and ford's agreement to notify subject vehicle owners (now and every two years until the vehicles reach ten years from their production date) about the importance of maintaining proper tire pressures on their vehicles, further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.for additional information, see the attached closing report.
Odi has received 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel shimmy and oscillations commencing after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven road surface. The majority of these incidents occurred at speeds of 50 mph or greater.thirteen of the complaints received by odi allege loss of steering control and that the vehicle changed driving lanes uncontrollably.four of the complaints received by odi allege that the vehicle left the road surface as a result of the violent suspension and steering wheel oscillations.in one case the consumer alleges that after the vehicle left the road surface, it crashed into a wooded area.additionalfactors contributing to the opening of this ea were early warning field reports, submitted by ford, describing suspension shimmy / oscillationsand a ford tsb (07-10-10) describing the suspension shimmy issue and how to repair the problem.ford has described shimmy as self-excited oscillation of the steering wheels with accompanying wheel tramp.this pe has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea) to determine if the shimmy condition that occurs on the subject vehicles creates a condition where the vehicle becomes difficult to control or startles the driver, thus presenting a safety risk.
