3 recalls name the 2007 Ford F-250 SD. Newest first.
Icon Vehicle Dynamics, LLC (Icon) is recalling all 05-UP FSD 2.5 Centerline Stabilizer Kits with part number 65050. The kits were sold as an accessory for certain 2005-2021 Ford F-250 4X4 and F-350 4X4 pickup trucks. The foam ring inside the stabilizer "through shaft" may block the piston ports, possibly causing the steering to lock up.
If the steering locks, it can increase the risk of a crash.
Icon will notify owners, and dealers will install a new shock assembly with a revised foam ring and steel support disc, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact Icon customer service at 1-951-689-4266.

This could allow possible shifting and damage to the rear drive shaft and axle.
Truxxx will notify customers/installers and will replace affected welded lift blocks with either non-welded aluminum or cast iron blocks free of charge. the recall IS expected to begin on or about april 16, 2008. owners may contact truxxx at 1-800-381-8320.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 ford F-250 super duty. While driving at any speed, the vehicle shook violently and caused the door to open. It became difficult to steer and the entire vehicle oscillated. In addition, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failures began weeks after the vehicle was purchased in 2007. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 400.
At 52000 miles engine started making tapping noise? driver seatbelt not retracting. frontend shimmy at speeds of 45 to 65 mph. *tr
We have 3 out of 4 tires separate with the tread coming completely off of one of the tires causing major damage to bed and number of our truck. the first tire was with in a couple of months of purchase. The other 2 tires happen with in 30 minutes of each other. all under 10,000 miles of use. your form doesn't show correct tire type. This complaint IS on the federal courgia m/t. Thank you. *tr
I was towing a car hauler at approximately 65 mph on I-94 outside of chicago, il when my vehicle began to veer slightly to the right and cross into the other lane. I tried to correct steer to the left and my vehicle did not respond. I began to cross into the next lane of traffic and I began to spin the steering wheel even harder to the left with no change in direction. I realized that I had a loss of steering and began to apply the brakes to avoid hitting the barrier on the side of the road. I ended up crossing four lanes of moderately heavy labor day traffic with zero steering control and came to rest within inches of the retaining barrier on the side of the road. *js
Hit a bump on the road and my front end started shaking violently. had difficulty controlling the vehicle until reducing speed to approximately 35 to 40 mph at which point the shaking stopped. Notice a slight shimmy whenever making a right hand turn (negotiating right curves on the highways). Tire inflation has been checked and not the issue. This vehicle has not been used off-road or abused.it has a crew cab and was purchased to transport personnel and supplies. *tr
I would like to officially submit a complaint about our ford F250 super duty truck. There IS something seriously wrong with it and the ford dealership has been unable to fix it. We have had the same issue with it for the last few years and the issue has not been resolved! We are experiencing turbulent wobbling with this truck and I can assure you this IS not normal! The last incident occurred 2 days ago on may 26, 2013! I have children and feel that our lives were especially in danger when we rode in this truck as we thought this issue was resolved and no longer existed. As we were driving on the interstate highway we drove over an uneven section of the highway and our truck suddenly started shaking dangerously out of control! Thankfully my husband was able to control the steering wheel and stepped on the brake to slow it down, otherwise who knows what would have happened! There was traffic everywhere and we were lucky enough not to have an accident! Then it happened again a few hours later when we again drove over an uneven section of the interstate. I have experienced enough of these threatening episodes and I am very concerned as this IS absolutely not normal and I can honestly say there IS something very wrong with this vehicle. This IS a safety issue and people can and will lose their lives over this if this IS not resolved immediately! I have contacted ford headquarters to submit a formal complaint and they merely told me to continue working with the dealership that has unresolved my issue. I trust that you will take this complaint seriously as lives are at stake because of this issue. *tr
Driving my 2007 F250 sd and hit a bump, front end started to shimmy. Slowed down and the shimmy stopped. Had received a letter from ford motor company giving information about the front end shimmy. Since the first incident, it has occured numerous times. My truck IS currently at 87000 miles and the shimmy happens numerous times a day when I hit bumps/dips in the road. Diesel shop tells me to keep tires inflated properly, rotate and balance tires as well as proper alignment and have the steering dampner replaced. Steering dampner IS brand new (3 months old), tires are at proper inflation and balanced as well as alignment done and the front end still vibrates, sometimes violently to where it IS tough to control until speed drops under 40 mph. Still waiting on a fix for this issue as the shimmy IS daily and IS getting worse and I get the same textbook answer from ford everytime I call (tires, inflation, alignment, steering dampner). I'm afraid that the vibration will get to the point that parts will start becoming loose/break and cause an accident. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2007 ford F-250 sd. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently as the contact traveled over an uneven road surface. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 ford F-250 sd with goodyear wrangler AT/S tires, size: lt275/65/20. While rotating the tires, the contact noticed that the tread on the rear passenger tire was separating. The contact replaced the tire and noticed that the tread on the front passenger tire had begun to separate as well. The front passenger tire was not replaced. The dot number was not available. The mileage on the vehicle at the time of the failure was 119,000. the approximate failure mileage of the tire was 48,370.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, he crashed into another vehicle and the air bags did not deploy. Two passengers from the other vehicle were injured and transported to the hospital. The entire front end was badly damaged and the vehicle was towed from the scene. There was a police report if needed. The insurance company was notified. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they would send a representative to inspect the vehicle and the air bags. The failure mileage was 87,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 ford F-250 super duty with bf goodrich rugged trail tires, size 265/70/r17. The contact stated that all four tires were dry rotted as well as the spare. The contact stated that the tires were rotated regularly but the tread was deteriorated as a result. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that they would give 20 percent back on the replacement of the tire. The failure mileage was 13,000 and the current mileage 27,000.
Picked up my F250 super duty from the service at the ford dealer, driving it on the freeway overpass, hit a bump on the over pass and my front end started shaking violently. I had no control, I had to stop on the freeway to make it stop shaking, almost caused a pile up. Called the dealer and they said they've heard of the problem but nothing they can do. *tr
While driving over a set of railroad tracks, almost lost control of vehicle. took it to ford garage, they test drove it. Replace steering box. two years later. Steering pump broke, and the new steering box broke, while driving. vehicle IS parked, and will remain parked. drove the vehicle last week and experienced the same incident. could not turn the steering wheel. turned to the left, when I tried to turn to the right, it would not turn. was driving at about 40mph. went off the road. it continues to act the same. this would be a great vehicle to test. *tr
Running interstate going on bridge in curve an little crack in road made truck start shaking violently. Making me have to come to complete stop before it would quit shaking throwing stuff all around inside truck. *tr
2007 F250 crew cab 4X4. while traveling on the freeway at about 65mph I hit an unevenly paved road and my truck went into a violent shake for at least a mile until I slowed down to a stop. cars started to yield and slow down because the shake was so violent and the vehicle started to merge into other lanes. *tr
Ford super duty deathwobble. Problem has persisted since new. Failure occurs at speeds between 30 and 75mph. Failure manifests as uncontrollable steering and whole vehicle oscillation. Has led to loss of control of vehicle more times than I can remember. Uneven road surface instigates said loss of control. Have changed shocks and springs, added dual steering stabilizer in addition to changing stabilizer in stock location, ball joint caster cams added, new tires added (twice) multiple alignments. Most corrective action taken IS not to drive it and jeopardize my life or the lives of others. How many need to be killed or injured before someone can be held accoutable? *tr
2007 ford F250 super duty 6.0 liter diesel 4X4. Steering wobble (oscillation): purchased vehicle new after about 30000 miles when driving 60-65 mph and hit an rough road surface - steering begins to shake violently until slowed to approx. 40 mph. At 42000 miles had 6" lift and 37' tires and dual steering stabilizer put on vehicle and problem seemed to resolve up until approx. 54000 miles same issue again. Have had wheels balanced, air pressure and alignment check - found loose track bar and tightened. This helped to reduce the frequency of wobble occurrence, however still not resolved. Upon researching this it appears to be a global ford super duty problem whether vehicle IS stock or had suspension modifications. It IS a potentially dangerous situation that ford needs to address instead of deny there IS a problem. *tr
I have a ford f250sd, when I am doing 70mph plus and hit a pot hole or a good size bump the front end of the truck shakes vigorously. I would have to slow down to nearly to 40mph just to get it to stop. I spoke with about 200+ other ford f250sd owners on different forums and they all state they are having the same problem. The years range from '06 to '08. *Tr
TL* the contact owns a 2007 ford F-250 sd. While driving approximately 55-60 mph, the contact drove over a road bump and vehicle began to shake violently causing difficulty in steering. The brakes were applied and the failure became worse. The failure occurred when encountering rough road conditions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three occasions and one time to an independent mechanic regarding the failure. The steering stabilizer and mounting bracket were replaced four times yet the failure persisted. The contact was in the process of taking the vehicle back to the authorized dealer for further diagnosis and repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Excessive shimmy/front end oscillation causing loss of control on multi lane highway nearly causing accident, forced to brake severely to regain control , almost causing a rear end crash . Read your report ea08007 and immediately checked tire pressure and confirmed that they were within spec's. In forty five years of driving have never experienced such a violent condition of a motor vehicle including tire blowouts over 50 mph. I find it hard to believe there are no associated crashes or deaths of this condition. There are many postings of same on the internet by other owners. I will take my vehicle back to ford and reference their tsb 7-10-10 and your ea08007 report. *Tr
Front brakes failed twice within the first 15,000 miles . Caliper's froze up causing pads to stick, causing them to drag and over heat, causing rotors to crack and split. Problem was first fixed feb.,2010 at approx. 7500Miles. Caliper rusts or corrodes when exposed to any moisture and freezes up/sticks. Ford says I don't use truck enough but the same problem happen to my last F250 after 100,000 miles; please note that the brakes would not release after applying causing premature ware from dragging also no warning lights came on. *Tr
Ford F250 steering oscillation. I know there was an investigation, and the matter IS now closed, but how can this be. the simple fact that the tire pressure IS the cure all? I currently have the stock tires still, and set to the factory requested pressure. and it will give me "death wobble" many times in the course of the trip. to the point that I even have to pull over to get it to stop. I have the entire front end checked out by a shop and the report was there IS no worn out parts. it IS a well known fact that tre style ball joints dont work well as track bar ends, yet ford keeps using them. the complaints all over the internet are not wrong. I am afraid the let me parents drive the truck and they were the main reason we purchased it. *Tr
Severe steering wheel and front wheel vibrations. Feels like a tire IS coming off, this IS causing severe shimmy and loss of control of the vehicle at approx 35-39 mph - thought there were ripples in the road but it happens on more and more bumps, worse today. Happens multiple times per trip various situations. Kids thought IS was fun, I was scared to death (this incident happened on a straight away - still terrifying). Have not taken to dealer but will immediately, pressures are good and nothing appears broken hope I can find out before something really bad happens. *Tr
2007 ford F250 super duty when hitting a rough spot or pot hole at speeds around 70 mph the front end shakes violently. We have taken this vehicle to our local ford dealer. *Tr
I own and drive a ford F250 super duty 4-wheel drive truck. I have on more than twenty (20) occasions experienced a severe suspension and steering wheel vibration, causing me to lose control of my vehicle. this occurred during the period 5/15/2009 through 1/15/2010. this only occurs at speeds over 55 mph on the highway when I cross over uneven road surfaces, like an overpass or a change in pavement type. the vibration IS so severe that the only way to stop it IS to slow dramatically to less than 30 mph and move out of the traffic lanes. the vibration does not stop unless I slow the vehicle. I have attempted to keep the vehicle on the road without slowing down, but the vibration continued for more than 45 seconds. I have addressed this with my local ford dealer. they were unable to duplicate the event. on one occasion they could not address it because they did not have a truck specialist on site that day. my vehicle IS at the ford dealer today to have this addressed, but based on previous experience, I do not feel they will acknowledge or address the problem. the problems first occurred when the vehicle had approximately 28,000 miles. all service on my vehicle has been performed at ford dealers, so they have records of my complaints. it IS my understanding from speaking to several people at my local ford dealer that the problem may be related to a sensor in the rear-end which IS associated with the 4-wheel drive system. all of these events occurred while the vehicle was in 2-wheel drive mode. I am greatly concerned about my safety and the safety of other motorists when driving this vehicle at highway speeds. if the issues continue, it IS likely that the vibration will cause me to lose control of my vehicle leading to an accident, and at highway speeds, it IS likely to involve injuries or death. *Tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
This investigation was opened based on 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel oscillations after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven surface.odi was concerned about these complaints because many of them alleged loss of control and the loss of control occurredat speeds above 50 miles per hour.at the time these complaints were received, odi was also aware of the tsb 07-10-10 and early warning field reports that discussed the shimmy condition on the subject vehicles.since opening this investigation, odi has confirmed, based on consumer complaints, warranty data, testing conducted by vrtc, and odi inspection of complaint vehicles, that the owners of the subject vehicles are experiencing shimmy events on their vehicles.however, odi has also confirmed that owners typically do not maintain their tires at the pressures recommended by ford on the tire label.further, odi has found that in order for shimmy to occur, tire pressures must be substantially below (at least 20%) those specified on the vehicle tire label.odi considers these unsafe tire conditions to be the result of one of three typical situations.the tires are being improperly maintained, the owners are intentionally setting the tire pressures low to enhance ride quality, or aftermarket tires (not designed for use on the vehicle) are installed to change the appearance or function of the vehicle.the subject vehicles are intended and designed to be used as heavy duty vehicles and as such require that the tires be capable of handling the loads for which the vehicle IS designed and marketed.in order for the tires to be capable of handling these loads, the proper tire pressure must be maintained.in light of the information gathered in this investigation and ford's agreement to notify subject vehicle owners (now and every two years until the vehicles reach ten years from their production date) about the importance of maintaining proper tire pressures on their vehicles, further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.for additional information, see the attached closing report.
Odi has received 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel shimmy and oscillations commencing after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven road surface. The majority of these incidents occurred at speeds of 50 mph or greater.thirteen of the complaints received by odi allege loss of steering control and that the vehicle changed driving lanes uncontrollably.four of the complaints received by odi allege that the vehicle left the road surface as a result of the violent suspension and steering wheel oscillations.in one case the consumer alleges that after the vehicle left the road surface, it crashed into a wooded area.additionalfactors contributing to the opening of this ea were early warning field reports, submitted by ford, describing suspension shimmy / oscillationsand a ford tsb (07-10-10) describing the suspension shimmy issue and how to repair the problem.ford has described shimmy as self-excited oscillation of the steering wheels with accompanying wheel tramp.this pe has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea) to determine if the shimmy condition that occurs on the subject vehicles creates a condition where the vehicle becomes difficult to control or startles the driver, thus presenting a safety risk.
