In the event of a side impact crash, the interior door handle may cause the door latch to open increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the interior handle spring on all side doors. the recall began on march 5, 2008. owners may contact ford at 1-800-392-3673.
Certain continental automotive ABS and esc control modules sold for installation on the vehicles listed above. some of the hydraulic valves in the esc module were built with extra check balls.

The extra check balls can restrict the flow of brake fluid through the valve and cause reduction of brake force.

Each vehicle manufacturer will file a defect report and remedy plan for their vehicles which included these modules as original equipment. vehicles will be repaired at no cost to the owner. owners can contact either their vehicle manufacturer or continental automotive at 248-393-5300 for further information.
Certain vehicles fail to conform to the requirements specified in federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 208, 'occupant crash protection.' the driver air bag module may not have been properly assembled.

I purchased this vehicle in March 2023 from a private owner from Craigslist that was listed at 130,000 miles. I’m currently in the process of selling and found out through a car history report that my vehicle passed an emission inspection at 230,000 miles in February 2023 and was also purchased from an auction, a month before I purchased it. The owner did not give any of this information and tampered with the odometer. I ran a vehicle history report today August 20, 2025 and retrieved all of this information that was not presented to me during this transaction.

The brake is so far left, it is unsafe to drive. It is in the position the clutch would in an a Manual transmission and my right foot has trouble moving that far over and its unsafe to use my left as i'm never braked with my left foot.

Since I have owned this vehicle when ever you fill up with fuel when the gas pump clicks off fuel spews back out the filler tube. I have asked dealers if anyone else has this problem and am told no. I believe this is a safety hazzard when gasoline runs down the side of vehicle and onto the ground. Ford does not acknowlege and problem. I'm sure there are other vehicles with the same problem.

When filling the gas tank, even at the slowest setting on the gas pump, when the pump clicks to indicate the tank is full, 5 seconds later the tank burps fuel everywhere and the tank is only 3/4 full. The fumes are a safety risk to people, the fuel on the ground is bad for the environment, and there have been instances when I have been sprayed with fuel. I took the vehicle to my local mechanic and they were not able to find anything wrong. I took the vehicle to the local Ford dealership and they indicated everything was working properly. I took the vehicle back to Ford again and I was told the only other possible thing to do would be to replace the fuel tank, but the fuel tank is not produced anymore and is obsolete. There are no warning indicators to this problem with the vehicle.

I received a 2008 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition as a birthday gift last October. By January, the passenger window completely quit working. One warm, sunny day, we decided to open the sunroof. We have never had issues with the sunroof malfunctions. A storm moved in and temperatures quickly dropped (we are on the TN/AL stateline, we get all four seasons in one day sometimes). The sunroof would NOT close. It would move forward maybe halfway and then back to completely open. We struggled for HOURS, had to purchase bags, duct tape, and several other items to close the opening. I had to purchase a hotel room for the night because there was no way it would stay in place for another 100 miles. The next day driving home, we stopped at a Co-Op and a gentleman helped us FORCE the sunroof closed. Since then, we have disconnected the button that cracks the rear two windows and sunroof. My truck interior was soaked. My twin girls were cold and miserable, as I was too. We could not afford that hotel room but had no other option.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH downhill, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle spun out of control. The rear-end of the vehicle clipped a telephone pole and spun around in the other direction, the vehicle then went down an embankment and crashed into a rock wall. The contact stated that the air bags deployed as needed. The contact stated that she had a fractured ankle but was unsure whether the injury was from the crash or prior to the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and then towed to the contact’s grandmother’s home. The vehicle was not repaired. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.

When driving during normal dry weather the traction control randomly comes on when it shouldn't and has caused the brakes to fail and the vehicle not stopping when the brakes are pressed. I have have owned the vehicle only 7 weeks and have had this issue with the brakes occur on 3 occasions. Luckily, 2 of the times I was in a rural area but the 3RD time I was on a busy city street and ran through a red light narrowly missing having an accident. each time this has occurred my speed was below 45mph. I did some research on this issue and found several blogs online of people with the same problem. In these blogs the individuals stated that the ford dealer was unable to identify or duplicate the problem in each blog that I found with this problem. many of these blogs were several years old so I called my local ford service manager who indicated he knew nothing of this problem and it would be difficult to diagnose since the traction control does not retain faults. my local service manager gave me a number to ford who I called and described the issue. the person I spoke with could not find anything regarding this issue and could only advise me to take it to a ford service location to check out. in the blogs I did read where one individual was told by his/her ford service center that a ford engineer would be coming to assess the problem. This IS a serious issue. as I stated, I have owned the vehicle 7 weeks and had the traction control to cause the brakes to fail on 3 occasions. the date below of 8/24/2020 IS the date of the 3RD occasions.

I took the car to the mechanic who had previously replaced the brake pads and found nothing wrong, also during week long test drive mechanic did not have same experience. I have had the experience 5-6 times, and spouse has also had the brake pedal go too far down before it brakes. This issue has happened at high & lo speeds street & highway. It IS very random too, does not happen on every vehicle use.

Paint IS chiping from the hood and from the trunk door. The other problem IS that it vibrates at high speeds. It drives very smooth, but once I hit above 70mph on the highway it starts to feel shaky. I can feel the vibration on the steering wheel.

The vehicle was in park but started to roll away. There was a passenger seated in the front passenger seat who witnessed the failure occur and was unable to unfasten her seat belt when the vehicle rolled away due to it retracting. The contact stated that the driver door was open and while the vehicle was rolling, the driver front door crashed against the driveway gate, then continued to roll. The contact stated that she attempted to open the passenger front door but it failed to open and the seat belt failed to unlock. The contact stated that the vehicle was rolling in full acceleration in reversed and was making a loud clicking noise as if it was trying to get back into gear. The vehicle crashed into trees of an ally of a garage. The vehicle was able to drive back into the garage. There were no injuries sustained. It was unknown if a police report was filed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing or repair. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that there was no recall on the vehicle and was suggested to have the vehicle taken to a ford dealer and did not offer further assistance. My girlfriend and I came home, I placed the SUV in park. I was fully out of the vehicle when my girlfriend informed me that the keys were still in the ignition. I reached into the vehicle to take the keys out of the ignition, the car was what I assumed to be off. The SUV begin to reverse. The driveway was on an incline and I almost got ran over by the vehicle. There was a clicking noise like the gear was trying to catch. I was fully out of the SUV with a bag in my hand, but the seat belt locked on my girlfriend and she wasn't able to get out or get the vehicle to stop. The SUV was stopped by trees and I was able to get it out, the key was in the ignition still, the car was in park, in order to get out over the curb and out of the trees, I restarted the engine. I have since driven the vehicle and have been noticing jerking, and high pitch squeaking noises from the breaks and something going on with the break pedal, as though it has not come up from the usable break position. I am thankful my children were not injured.

On october 14, 2008, odi opened pe08-060 to investigate allegations of cracked and leaking snap-in tire valves in model year (my) 2007 vehicles manufactured by ford motor company.the valves were supplied to ford by topseal auto-parts, a subsidiary of the shanghai baolong automotive corporation in china.valves made by topseal for aftermarket sale were the subject of two recent safety recalls by tech international (08t-018) and dill air controls (08t-028), the latter of which was investigated by odi in pe08-036 and ea08-022.the defect conditions addressed by the aftermarket tire valve recalls both involved inadequate resistance to ozone cracking due to issues with the supply of anti-ozonant chemicals to topseal for a period from july to mid-november 2006.the aftermarket valves were compounded with a blend of epdm and natural rubber, using a relatively low percentage of epdm (epdm provides inherent resistance to ozone cracking).hence, the need for anti-ozonant chemicals and the problems with cracking when those chemicals were missing or out of specification in some lots of valves.both recall campaigns involved inspection programs to identify and replace valves with visible surface cracking.although the topseal valves supplied to ford also appear to have been affected by the anti-ozonant supply issues in mid to late-2006, ford indicated that its valves were made at a different topseal production line and were compounded with a higher percentage of epdm rubber to meet more stringent specifications from ford.odi's analysis of complaint and warranty data provided by ford showed that problems with cracked tire valves were significantly higher for my 2007 vehicles produced from december 2006 through march 2007.ford responded by implementing changes in its material specifications for snap-in rubber tire valves and also increasing the quality and acceptance standards for valves imported for use in its vehicles.while the complaint and warranty claim rates are elevated for subject vehicles produced from december 2006 through march 2007, the rates of leaking valves are well below one percent of production for each of the peak months for all of the affected models.a substantial majority of the subject vehicles are equipped with tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) which warn the driver when any tire pressures drops below 25 percent of recommended inflation pressure. As outlined in a letter to odi dated april 6, 2009, ford has agreed to send letters to owners of certain my 2007 and 2008 ford, lincoln and mercury vehicles to provide information about the cracking concern. Letters will be sent to owners of vehicles built from november 2006 through may 2007.owners can opt for a free dealer inspection.valves exhibiting surface cracks or air leakage related to ozone attack will be replaced by ford under its normal warranty terms.ford expects to send the letter by approximately mid-may 2009. Based on the use of TPMS in the majority of subject vehicles and the relatively low rates of repairs associated with leaking valves and resultant tire damage, odi believes that the actions ford has agreed to take will provide effective and expeditious resolution for vehicles that were built during the period when valves with inadequate resistance to ozone cracking were most likely to have been used in vehicle production.further investigation of this matter would not be an efficient allocation of agency resources.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will continue to

Some 2003-2020 Expedition/Navigator and 2006-2020 F-150 (non-Raptor) vehicles equipped with 4WD may exhibit grinding/clicking/ratcheting noise from the front wheel area. This may be due to partial engagement of the integrated wheel ends (IWE). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to remove and cap the vacuum supply line or to reprogram the transfer case control module (TCCM) and replace any worn vacuum and/or IWE components.

If the accessory keypad was factory installed, this card will be placed in the glove box and should be handed to the vehicles owner during initial delivery. Unlike the integrated (wired) factory keypad, the accessory keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Dealer Key Code access is granted through the Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES); dealership management can authorize users. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com > Parts and Service > Parts Product Line Information > Keys/Entry Devices > Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.

It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

- 10109070The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
- 10109021When ordering a 2005 to 2008 remanufactured 5.4L 3v or 6.8L 3v engine, spark plug boots may be provided in the packaging. Replace all black spark plug boots from the original engine with the 'brown' spark plug boots, as provided. The updated 'brown' spark plug boots are longer than the black boots to accommodate a running change in the spark plug length. The ignition coil bodies and spring/resistor are transferable and only the rubber boots require replacement. Failure to install the spark plug boots provided with the replacement engine could lead to drivability concerns.
