Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or front passenger seat may inadvertently lock the seat belt, which will not allow the belt to retract or extend.

Seat belts that do not retract or extend can fail to restrain an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt retractors as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed June 8, 2026. The moonroof wind deflector clips may be inadequately attached to the moonroof frame, which can result in the wind deflector detaching from the vehicle.

The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. We took it to the dealership but they are unable to duplicate. All they did was drive it around in 70 degree weather. Ford rep called us and said if this happens after warranty, we were out of luck. We need to pay for an extended warranty. It has appx 44,000 miles on it. This has happened at least 6 times and it is when the vehicle sits out in cold weather.

Vehicle would not crank back up but starter would engage. Upon scanning the trouble codes, multiple codes came up in regard to the fuel pump issue that is currently under investigation. (P008A, P00C6, P0304) This issue poses a serious risk as while actively driving, could cause an accident and should be an active recall for this year make and model.

I am reporting a potential safety defect involving the HVAC air vent assemblies in my 2022 Ford Expedition. I have now had TWO separate vent directional-control/deflector handles break during normal use. The plastic attachment points are extremely thin and fragile and appear inadequate for a component specifically designed to be routinely adjusted. This does not appear to be an isolated incident. Broken HVAC vent controls/deflectors have been reported MULTIPLE times by Ford owners across various online Ford forums and owner discussions. The number of similar consumer reports raises concern that this may be a recurring design or material defect rather than normal wear or accidental damage. When the control breaks, the vent can no longer be properly aimed. This creates a potential visibility issue because HVAC airflow is necessary to clear condensation and fog from the windshield and front side windows. In hot humid climate, windows can fog rapidly. Losing the ability to properly direct airflow can delay clearing the glass and reduce driver visibility. The defect also prevents proper A/C airflow from being directed toward the driver. Florida vehicles can reach extremely high interior temperatures when parked. Reduced ability to direct cold air toward the driver can contribute to excessive heat exposure, discomfort, fatigue, dehydration, and potentially heat-related illness, which may impair safe vehicle operation. Having two separate vent controls fail under normal use, combined with numerous similar reports from other Ford owners, suggests a possible systemic durability defect. I am requesting that NHTSA review complaints involving 2022 Ford Expeditions and other Ford vehicles using the same vent assemblies to determine whether an investigation or corrective action is warranted.

Car was unable to be driven, no breaks .all happened very quickly and without any reason .i had it towed to a break mechanic and he said it was the ABS modular break line that was broken and there was no more break fluid and it had leaked out . He suggested I send it to the dealership. It sounds like the exact same issue as the recall # 25S47 on campaign 25V314 but my vin number does not fall under they but shows it is the same Kentucky plant and year so I do believe it is the same issue

While driving on the highway, my 2022 Ford Expedition suddenly lost acceleration. The gas pedal stopped responding completely and the vehicle gradually lost power until it shut off. It had to be towed and the battery was fully drained afterward. It was later diagnosed as a fuel pump failure. This was a sudden loss of propulsion in traffic and created a serious safety concern. Police pulled over and were able to get me towed to the nearest safe stop as my car stopped on a bridge with no shoulder.

Transmission randomly hard down shifts erratically. It feels like i lose control of the vehicle. Shifting is so violent, it's like I were driving over a man hole with a missing cover. These are under normal operating conditions. Not towing, not hard braking. Not extreme cold or hot climate. There are no warning laps on the dash board. This issue has been reviewed at 2 different FORD dealer / repair shops. The first location changed the transmission fluid. The second one changed the transmission torque converter. Documentation can be provided. There is no computer data that indicated an issue when hooked up to the Ford mechanic computer diagnostic tool. The problem continues to happen after repair. The vehicle is still under FORD warranty. 2 Ford mechanics have test driven the vehicle after repair. They recognize the problem, and provide no remedy other than what has already been done. This vehicle feels unsafe to drive.

I am submitting a formal consumer complaint regarding a persistent brake issue—specifically a loud squeal when coming to a stop in a 2022 Ford Expedition Max Limited purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle through Ford’s Blue Advantage Program. At the time of sale, I was assured the vehicle met certification standards, had no unresolved safety concerns, and that any recalls had been addressed. However, I later learned that Safety Recall 25S47 (NHTSA Campaign 25V-314) had been issued in May 2025—one month prior to purchase—for a front brake line defect that may cause brake fluid leaks, reduced braking performance, and increased crash risk. Despite this, the vehicle was certified and sold with representation that the recall showed “no concern.” Since purchase, the vehicle has exhibited constant brake squealing, worsening stopping performance, and reduced responsiveness. The issue occurs at every stop and persists despite replacement of front and rear brake pads and rotors. Timeline: • Apr 2024 – Prior brake-related service • May 9, 2025 – Recall issued • June 4, 2025 – Brake service prior to sale • June 14, 2025 – Purchased as certified • Within 1 week – Issue reported • June 25, 2025 – Inspection found “no concern” • July 2025 – Pads/rotors replaced • Within 2–3 months – Issue returned • Ongoing – Condition deemed “within guidelines” Multiple attempts to resolve this through the dealer, a consumer complaint organization, a state regulatory complaint, and a manufacturer repair case have not resulted in a fix. This raises concern that a vehicle with a known safety-related defect was certified and sold without proper resolution. I request investigation into whether certification standards were properly followed and whether consumer protection requirements were violated. I am seeking a permanent manufacturer-backed repair, repurchase, or other appropriate relief.

Receiving Front Camera Malfunction Service required warning. Also receiving pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency break system warnings. Other systems likely disabled. Found that there was a TSB issued for the same year but on the F-150. DTC's C1001:31, U3000:89, U3000:49. This issue is likely caused by faulty cable connections where condensation has caused corrosion making the system inoperable thus creating a major safety issue for owners. I took the Expedition to SawGrass Ford in Sunrise FL and they confirmed that the issue was due to the electronics/cables. The camera itself was not dirty or blocked. They charged me $250 for a diagnostic and then wanted to charge me $2500+. For the safety and security of all owners please investigate and hold FORD accountable for this.

On July 29, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE24019 to investigate complaints of low-pressure fuel pump failures in MY 2021 Ford Bronco vehicles. Some consumers reported that the failure occurred without warning while driving, resulting in a complete loss of motive power with no ability to restart the engine. Ford determined that several other vehicle models contain low-pressure fuel pumps substantially similar to the 2021 Ford Bronco, including the 2022-2023 Ford Bronco, 2018-2023 Ford F-150, 2022-2023 Ford Expedition, 2019-2023 Lincoln Navigator, 2020-2023 Ford F-250-F-550, 2024 Ford Super Duty Chassis Cab, 2024-2025 Ford Ranger, 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, and 2021-2025 Ford Mustang. ODI's investigation found that the affected vehicles may lose fuel pressure and flow from the fuel delivery module (consisting of a low-pressure fuel pump, jet pump, reservoir, and other parts) due to a low-pressure pump failure. This can cause the engine to stall while driving. The root cause is reduced internal clearance in the fuel pump, increasing friction and sensitivity to vapor lock. Fuel blockage from contamination inside the jet pump also contributed to the failure. Ford stated that the contamination source was unknown. On July 7, 2025, Ford filed recall 25V-455 for certain 2021-2023 Ford F-550 SD/F-450 SD/F-350 SD/F-250 SD, 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, 2021-2022 Ford Mustang, 2021-2022 Ford F-150, 2021-2023 Ford Explorer, 2022 Ford Expedition, and 2021-2023 Ford Bronco vehicles produced between July 1, 2021, and July 30, 2022. The recall also included certain 2021-2023 Lincoln Aviator produced between July 1, 2021, and December 21, 2022. Ford explained in its recall filingthat the production dates used for the recall were based on changes in the manufacturing process. Specifically, Ford determined that in June 2021, the supplier modified the jet pump manufacturing process, producing fuel pump chambers with a lower-than-specified internal clearance. In July 2022, the supplier implemented corrective actions to the manufacturing process by adding two additional vacuum pumps to reduce contamination during the production of the jet pump. ODI has identified approximately 1,000 reports involving vehicles covered in this investigation but excluded from recall 25V-455. However, even with such reports, these vehicles experienced comparatively lower failure rates than the vehicles that are subject to Recall 25V-455. Ford has explained that these vehicles were excluded from the recall population because they did not experience the manufacturing changes that prompted the recall. Specifically, according to Ford, vehicles built before July 1, 2021 (the recall production start date), were not affected by the supplier’s change to the jet pump manufacturing process. Even after closing this investigation, ODI will continue to monitor complaints for vehicles excluded from recall 25V-455 to consider whether they exhibit the same risks as the vehicles encompassed by the recall. The recall remedy is currently under development. In view of Ford’s recall action, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation, but will continue to monitor the issue as a remedy is developed and implemented. Refer to General Service Bulletin (GSB) 23-7146 for help determining the latest available level of software. IMPORTANT: some module software updates will only display as available on Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) after prerequisite modules are updated. This may require the technician to update certain modules multiple times during the service visit, before the latest APIM software is accessible in FDRS. If symptoms continue after latest APIM software has been installed, inform customers that Ford is working on additional software enhancements which are expected to be delivered over-the-air (OTA) by Q4 2024 on F-150, F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Mustang, Escape, Corsair, Expedition, Navigator, Bronco, Mustang, and 2023-2024 F-Super Duty. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicle's settings. For all other vehicles with SYNC4, schedule a service visit for customers in October 2024, when the updated APIM software is expected to be available to dealers. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.

Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.

This is an operating characteristic of the vehicle. Do not attempt any repairs for this condition.
