Door Handle on inside broke, preventing normal egress. Yes is has been verified by dealership and they wait for parts for repair. No lamps or warnings. Door just quit functioning. As I am disabled this may be more alarming for me than others.
2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5 passenger inner door handle is broken and will not open the door. This is a big safety concern as you cannot open the door from the inside if there is an emergency. Driver side inner door handle was replaced by the dealer due to the exact same problem. The issue is well known and this needs to be recalled,11,500 miles on vehicle.
Interior drivers door handle no longer opens door. Making it impossible to open from the inside. Dealer claims replacement parts are on a 4-6 week backorder and hinted toward it being a common issue.
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH and accelerating and switching lanes, the vehicle failed to respond and maintained the desired speed. Additionally, the vehicle hesitated continuously. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V656000 (Power Train). The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall, but the failure occurred. The dealer was contacted but was unable to duplicate the failure. The service advisor associated the failure with the recall. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
Inside door handles continue to break at random . Small internal piece will snap and door handle no longer functions from the inside. Almost every other owner of the same year and model has had the same issue on every single interior door handle, on MULTIPLE occasions!
I own a 2025 Toyota Tacoma, and the interior driver’s door handle assembly has failed, preventing me from opening the driver’s door normally from inside the vehicle. The failure occurred at around 11000 miles during normal use without any accident, impact, or unusual force. The Tacoma had routine maintenance done at dealership at around 10682 miles. The handle became suddenly inoperable, leaving me unable to open the driver’s door from inside the cabin using the interior door handle. I must roll down the window and operate the exterior handle to exit through that door. This presents a potential safety hazard because, in an emergency such as a vehicle fire or collision, I may be unable to exit promptly through the driver’s door. The failure occurred suddenly without adequate warning. I contacted an authorized Toyota dealership, which determined that the handle sub-assembly needed replacement under warranty. However, the replacement part has been on backorder, and I have been informed that the estimated arrival date is December 7, 2026. This leaves me waiting months for a repair to a component that is essential to exiting the vehicle safely. I am concerned that this may represent a recurring defect affecting other Toyota Tacoma owners. I am requesting that NHTSA review reports of interior door handle failures in 2024–2026 Toyota Tacoma vehicles to determine whether a broader safety defect exists and whether further investigation is warranted.
Inner door handle broke under normal use and toyota cant replace this due to mass failures across the country in all 4th generation tacomas. Mass backorders. I have been driving for at least 2 months with no way to exit my vehicle in case of emergency.
My Toyota Tacoma door handle fails to open from the inside. My truck has around 13,000 miles on it and I’ve only opened that door maybe 100 times over the past year. Toyota claims it’s a wear issue but multiple posts have similar incidents with no damage to them. They just fail to work. If I had a medical emergency with my type 1 diabetes or an accident and couldn’t get out of the car it could be extremely dangerous.
I was unable to exit my vehicle because my driver door handle wouldn’t open my door….I had to call for assistance in a disabled parking space at the Veteran hospital to open the door from the outside because I was unable to reach the outside handle due to my disability.
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the driver noticed an abnormal sound while exiting the vehicle. In addition, the internal door handle was fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the internal door mechanism had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 7,055.
When attempting to exit the vehicle from the driver seat, the interior door handle no longer will open the door. A mechanism within the door has broken and does not allow it to be opened from the inside. There is an audible difference between the broken driver side and the working passenger side when working the handle. The exterior handle on the driver door still works.
My 2025 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter consistently experiences a severe loss of engine power while driving in rainy conditions. During precipitation, the vehicle suddenly loses acceleration capability, sputters, and becomes highly unresponsive, creating an immediate highway hazard as it cannot maintain traffic speeds. I suspect water ingress through the high-mount air intake (snorkel) system or factory airbox is affecting the engine's airflow sensors or electrical connectors. This happens every time I drive in heavy rain. I have brought it to 2 dealerships immediately after this has happened and both times I was told to just keep driving it until im stranded on the roadside because that's what roadside assistance is for. One time I had a car full of kids and they still told me to drive it until im stranded. Both times they didn't even scan the truck to see what happened.
The LF door handle cable broke under normal operation. The part is backordered through Toyota and there is no timeline to fix it.r/o #306180928/1
The driver door handle internal mechanism broke under normal operation, preventing exit from the vehicle. This is a serious safety issue because the driver is literally trapped in the vehicle, unless they roll the window down and engage the handle from the outside, or crawl over the center console to the passenger door. This is a potentially life-threatening issue. This problem has been identified, confirmed, and documented by my local official Toyota dealership. Neither the police nor my insurance company have inspected the door. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem were evident before the failure. My door worked perfectly fine one day, and the next I found myself trapped without warning.
Driver side rear passenger inside door handle broke. I do rarely have rear passengers. I can count on one hand the times I’ve had rear passengers. This week I had a rear passenger and the door handle broke. The passenger did not abuse the handle. It was regular force used yet it still broke. Online community groups for my vehicle show that this has been happening alot to other 4th gen Tacomas. Not just rear drive door like mine but drive door as well
Indoor door handles, and latch breaking over normal use due to cheap manufacturing. Major safety hazard on the inability of exiting a vehicle from inside. It happens unexpectedly and has been reported on many new trucks.
Driver side interior door handle has broken. Not allowing me to open the door from the inside. Requiring me to roll the window down and open the door from the outside.
Inside drivers door handle cable was broke inside of door Door handle cannot be opened from inside Confirmed by dealer verbally Inspected by dealer and new cable replaced No warning lamps or any symptoms prior to breaking
Interior door handles malfunction - they do not open the door from the inside. To open the door, one must open the window or have someone else open the door from the outside. This is a known issue with 2025 Toyota Tacoma / 2025 Toyota 4 Runner models. Dealer ship is indicating not a warranty, though the issue began with less than a year on the truck.
2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5, 8-speed automatic transmission. Harsh, hard shifts — primarily 1st-to-2nd and 2nd-to-3rd — on cold starts. The transmission slams into gear with a noticeable jolt/lurch of the vehicle. Occurs when the powertrain is cold; diminishes as it warms up. No warning lights and no diagnostic trouble codes stored. Reported to Kenny Kent Toyota (Evansville, IN) twice. First visit: dealer could not replicate. Second visit (09-17-2026): vehicle left overnight for cold-start diagnosis; dealer acknowledged the hard shifting but stated it is "operating as designed" because another Tacoma on the lot behaves the same way, and declined warranty repair absent a manufacturer bulletin. The unexpected lurch on engagement is a safety concern, particularly in parking lots and stop-and-go traffic. This matches Technical Service Bulletin TSB-0094-24 addressing shift quality on this transmission family and numerous identical owner reports.
The interior door handle snapped and failed completely under normal operation, causing an immediate loss of driver egress. The handle went limp, leaving the door impossible to open from inside the cabin and creating an entrapment hazard in the event of an emergency. Exiting the vehicle requires the window to be rolled down to access the exterior handle. The failure occurred suddenly with no prior warning or indication of potential failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Toyota dealership, which confirmed internal component failure and ordered a replacement assembly under warranty. The dealership noted the replacement part is currently on national backorder due to high replacement volume.
While attempting to exit my vehicle the inner door handle on the driver side felt loose. I attempted to open the door and the door would not open. I carefully attempted to manually move the lock on the door from unlocked to locked back to unlocked and again tried to carefully exit the vehicle but the inner door handle was inoperable. I am now forced to roll my window down and open my vehicle door from the outside to use the door
Driver side interior door handle broke under normal use not allowing me to exit my truck without rolling down window and using the exterior door handle.
Driver side door cannot be open from the inside ,driver have to put the window down and open from the outside 2025 Toyota Tacoma only have 4,700 Miles
Fourth generation Toyota Tacoma interior door handles -- 2024, 2025, 2026 -- suffer from an engineering or manufacturing defect. These handles are breaking during normal use, by the thousands. This is a serious safety risk, as drivers with limited mobility, or even fully-abled drivers can be entrapped within the vehicle during an emergency. A regular pull, let alone a hard pull, routinely snaps the mechanism. Toyota dealer has 1000+ backlog of repairs. This is a serious safety risk and a recall is critical. Drivers will die if this is not addressed; it is merely a matter of time.
