It IS silver/platinum-metallic color and etc. Dmv employee per today's visit 9/27/2018 refusing to give me a paperwork or to cooperate with the state rules to the true ID of the ownership(tangible ownership-i paid cash for my car in 2001). She (woman-worker)told me at dmv office redwood city,ca 94063 appointment # b0039, approx window 9 service time2:40pm; that dmv will not change nor update nor to correct records - but the wrongful entry into dmv records makes property owner to suffer with the ID cases through law enforcement agencies and other re departments of USA. it affects my personal holdings value and my own financial stability and personal safety - recalls for 2000 are different to recalls of 2001-due to major updates and improvements to the subject car with the approval of judicial court system in 2001 and later. Currently my vehicle IS stationed, I am searching for the true answers of the title on my car. How to prove police department and other agencies - police/lot securities that my car has been taking care of and free of any payments. I am afraid for my life due to scrutany of employees of dmv -san mateo county, city of redwood city. By the way my car records are in santa clara county and even some attachments in santa cruz county-state of california.

I took the tire out and observed that the tire got cut because the shock coil spring got broken into two and the sharp edge of the spring IS cutting the tire.. luckily it did not happen on the highway .. A day before that I visited sant cruz with family ( wife and two kids ).. If it was, I would have been in helpless situation.. I replaced all the struts and shocks on next day by towing the vehicle. tire has more than three cuts.. I am not sure from how long the sharp edge spring was touching the tire.

I am the 2ND owner of this car , and I have loved it until the day the accelerator didn't work. I was driving down a mountain, not using the accelerator until I reached the bottom of the hill. when I tried to accelerate the pedal would not move. I coasted into the nearest turnoff. the car was running , I put it into" park", while still running I checked to see if there was something (floormats) blocking the pedal. there was nothing. I tried mashing it as hard as I could, no movement. I turned the engine off, waited a few minutes and restarted. the pedal was ok, accelerated just fine. I believe I rebooted the computer. I carefully drove to my mechanic, he checked the "plates" and other possible problems and could find nothing wrong. I called toyota customer service , they advised taking it to the nearest dealer. I was told it was not on the recall list but I could bring it in to be checked. I was afraid to drive the car that distance over 200 miles roundtrip. I later received a small check from "toyota economic loss settlement administrator " for a class action lawsuit settlement. I did not cash it. I was advised by my insurance company not to drive the car. I would like to sell it but ethically can not because I don't want somebody killed or injured in it. I have tried several times at the dealership to find a solution. But they claim this problem couldn't happen and were not helpful. it could be sold to a junk yard at a loss but again, it could be sold from there and driven. any advice?

The vehicle overheated and stalled, I steered it to the roadside to call for a tow. speaking with insurance tow service the car started to smoke from the front passenger side under the hood. As I supplied information the smoke volume increased from the front passenger side under the hood. smoke volume continued to increase and a crackling/burning sound started. I told the agent I have to go and called 911. I supplied details of the area where the increasing smoke was coming from, the car location and my status. in the car I pulled the hood lever, went outside and stopped short of opening the hood. realizing I had no means to put out the increasing fire I had to watch my car burn until firefighters arrived. I walk a distance away and waited, while the whole engine compartment went up in smoke....updated 09/22/15 *bf updated 11/06/2017*cn

Service bulletins
Technical service bulletins and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about this vehicle. Ask a dealer for the full document by its number.
- 11007445The condition known as acid rain is caused by airborne chemicals or particles in the atmosphere, which mix with rainwater, nighttime dew, or high humidity to form acidic compounds. If these contaminants settle and remain on a painted vehicle surface, especially the horizonal areas of the hood, roof, and decklid, significant damage can occur. This damage is the result of actual etching of the paint and appears as pitting or water spots. As acid rain droplets on the vehicle surface evaporate, the concentration strength of the acid increases, causing deeper and more rapid damage. This evaporation and corrosive action also occur more rapidly on dark colored cars as direct sun heat increases. It is the dealers responsibility to protect and maintain the quality of the vehicles paint finish after receipt at the dealership prior to the first sale. In areas known for high frequency and/or concentration of acid rain (see Figure 1), frequent vehicle washing during high heat or humidity periods will minimize the potential for paint damage caused by acid rain. It is further recommended that either reverse osmosis or deionized water be used to prevent water spotting.
- 11007444To prevent brake rotor rust from forming during transportation and storage, wheel film will be used instead of a cardboard type of anti-rust cover. The purpose of the wheel film is to shield the disc brake rotor from weather elements and initial rust before the vehicle is delivered to the customer. Consequently, the film should remain on the wheel for as long as possible.
- 11007443Acid rain results from rainwater or other airborne moisture that become acidic due to industrial chemical impurities in the atmosphere. If these acidic compounds settle on an exposed vehicle, especially the horizontal areas such as the hood, roof, and decklid, significant damage to the painted surfaces can occur. Acid rain damage can typically be identified on vehicles by the presence of stains on the paint surface that resemble hard water spots. Unlike water spots however, acid rain damage cannot be removed by regular washing procedures. Also, because acid rain can etch and soften the paint, normal buffing or polishing repair procedures should not be attempted. This can cause further damage and result in visible depressions in the paint surface. The following are the three major categories of acid rain damage: Minor damage: requires only buffing to repair. Moderate damage: usually requires neutralizing, color sanding, and buffing. Severe damage: extending beyond 1/2 mil of clearcoat on a pearl, metallic, or solid color, requires neutralization, sanding, and repainting. In cases where acid rain damage is minor, neutralization and buffing with a liquid-type paint finessing product may provide an adequate repair. Only specially formulated products outlined in this bulletin should be used for that purpose. Unfortunately, other than minor damage, there is no simple method of determining the actual extent (depth) of acid penetration other than color sanding a representative affected area until there is no visible etching or depressions, followed by measuring the amount of paint removed with either a magnetic or digital-type film thickness gauge. The procedures in this bulletin are intended for use by qualified body/paint technicians and should not be attempted by inexperienced personnel. It is the dealers responsibility to protect and maintain the quality of the vehicles paint finish after receipt at the dealership prior to the first sale. Perform frequent vehicle washing, as often as daily, during high heat and humidity periods to minimize the potential for paint damage due to acid rain exposure. This is especially important in geographical areas known for high frequency and concentration of acid rain and industrial fallout.

- 11005153Toyota vehicles are currently protected with RapgardTM protective film designed to protect the horizontal painted surfaces. This material protects from acid rain, environmental fallout, and rail contamination.
- 11005149Vehicles may occasionally be subjected to contamination by airborne iron particles shed from railroad tracks, train wheels, exposure to heavy machinery facilities, grinding, welding, etc. This type of contamination can be identified by the presence of small, red or brown particles on the paint surface. These particles are often difficult to see on dark color paints but can be easily felt when brushing a hand across horizontal body surfaces such as the hood, roof, or deck lid.

While the quality and durability of paint on Toyota vehicles is continuously being improved, it remains the dealers responsibility to protect and maintain the quality of the vehicles paint finish after receipt at the dealership prior to the first sale.
